Fort Worth, TX — In a moment of national significance, Pastor Kyev Tatum, Chaplain of the North Texas Buffalo Soldiers and Senior Pastor of New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church, has been formally invited to attend the Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony honoring the heroic Harlem Hellfighters, also known as the 369th Infantry Regiment of World War I. The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Emancipation Hall in the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. This prestigious invitation follows Pastor Tatum’s recent participation in another landmark event—the Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony for the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, the historic all-Black and Latina women’s military unit honored on April 29, 2025. His presence at both ceremonies speaks to his deep commitment to honoring unsung African American military pioneers whose legacies have too often been ignored or erased (https://www.facebook.com/share/v/19XwKD6C1e/?mibextid=wwXIfr).

Pastor Tatum’s involvement in the Harlem Hellfighters commemoration traces back to 2017, when he and his team produced “When Hell Froze Over” as part of the World War I Centennial Celebration. The tribute, inspired by the nationally acclaimed 369th Experience, brought renewed attention to the Harlem Hellfighters’ extraordinary bravery and contributions despite the oppressive segregation and racism they endured at home and on the battlefield.

As the visionary founder of Little Miss Six Triple Eight Ambassadors, Camp Buffalo Soldiers and Fort Twenty-Fourth, a faith-driven life skills and leadership campus based at New Mount Rose in Fort Worth’s historic 76104 zip code, Pastor Tatum continues to bridge the gap between history and hope. His work empowers young men and women—dubbed the Young Buffalo Soldiers—to walk in the footsteps of the heroes who came before them while preparing to lead their communities into the future.

This upcoming Congressional ceremony marks more than a historical acknowledgment—it represents a sacred national reckoning. It affirms the Harlem Hellfighters’ legacy as American patriots of the highest order and recognizes those who continue to tell their story today.
