A BOND OF BROTHERS FROM DIFFERENT MOTHERS BUT SERVANTS OF THE SAME HEAVENLY FATHER.

A BOND OF BROTHERS FROM DIFFERENT MOTHERS BUT SERVANTS OF THE SAME HEAVENLY FATHER.

“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” – Proverbs 17:17

Washington, DC — Very few are ever granted the privilege of attending a Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony—much less two in the same year. Yet in 2025, Fort Worth leaders Lt. Colonel Richard Crossley, Minister Derrick Johnson, and Pastor Kyev Tatum were honored by United States Speaker of the House Mike Johnson to stand in witness at not one, but two historic moments of national remembrance.

On April 29, 2025, they joined descendants and dignitaries in Emancipation Hall as America bestowed the Congressional Gold Medal upon the legendary 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion (Six Triple Eight). Then, on September 3, 2025, they again gathered at the U.S. Capitol to honor the valor of the 369th Infantry Regiment, the Harlem Hellfighters.

These sacred ceremonies brought together veterans, families, and citizens who came to celebrate the extraordinary service of men and women who, in the face of adversity, stood with courage and dignity.

Now, these three brethren—though from different generations and different journeys—share a bond that reflects the truth of Proverbs 17:17: “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” Their shared experience has forged not only friendship, but also responsibility—to preserve, promote, and protect the legacy of the Six Triple Eight and the Harlem Hellfighters so their stories will live on.

The soldiers of the 369th and the women of the 6888th endured hardship, discrimination, and danger, yet they served faithfully and sacrificially. Today, their example calls us to teach the next generation the price of freedom, to honor the debt of gratitude owed to those who served, and to carry forward the sacred duty of remembrance as brothers and sisters under one Heavenly Father.
