Bring your family, invite a neighbor, and join New Mount Rose for a day of building, learning, and fellowship!

Volunteers, families, and community partners are invited to the Faith in the Farm Community Build Day. Together, we’ll build garden boxes and fences, organize and clean out the container, and tidy up the fields. No special experience is needed—just a willing heart and a desire to help the community grow.

Children will enjoy a special Children Pizza Camp, where farming, food, and fun come together. They’ll explore where food comes from, learn about healthy eating and caring for the earth, and take part in hands-on activities. The day will also include food, games, fellowship, and a chance to meet and feed the chickens at Faith in the Farm.

The camp introduces a larger garden-to-oven experience supported by Cook Children’s Health Plan. Children will learn to grow pizza ingredients—including tomatoes, basil, oregano, onions, garlic, and peppers—in their own garden plots. When the ingredients are ready, they can return to harvest them and make pizzas in outdoor ovens built at New Mount Rose. Ingredients for the camp experience will be provided by community supporters.

The Children Pizza Camp is supported by the Texas Small Farmers and Ranchers CBO and Ken and P. Wade Ross.

What children can look forward to

  • Gardening: Learn how pizza ingredients are planted and cared for.
  • Pizza making: Discover how ingredients can go from the garden to the oven.
  • Teamwork and creativity: Join interactive games and farm activities.
  • STEM and nutrition: Explore science, healthy eating, and food systems.
  • Sustainability: Learn about composting, recycling, and using resources wisely.
  • Farm fun: Meet and feed the chickens at Faith in the Farm.

Children Pizza Camp can serve schools, churches, youth groups, families, and companies. Groups can choose a garden-to-harvest experience or a ready-to-go camp.

At New Mount Rose, we’re working to move our community from food insecurity toward a flourishing food forest—one garden box, one shared meal, and one day of service at a time. Every volunteer, contribution, and act of support helps this vision take root.

But give people purpose, give them hope, and give them something meaningful to live for, and they will no longer be willing to die for just anything.” Pastor Kyev Tatum Tre was one of a kind. He was loving. He was caring. He was hardworking. And yes — sometimes he could get on your last nerve. But when Tre showed up, you were always glad to see him. He often brought his brother Davion with him, and from the beginn...

AN ANGEL FROM ARKANSAS: The Authentic Voice of Nija Higgins. Proverbs 3:3-4. By Kyev Tatum, Publisher, Black Texans, Inc. Not Nija! In a world where everyone seems to be imitating someone else, Nija Higgins stands apart—genuine, radiant, and utterly authentic. She is heaven-sent at a time when authenticity is a rare gift. From the moment you meet her, you sense her goodness. Her heart leans toward helping those navigating the deep pain of losing a loved one. She notices the smallest details, and her leadership flows effortlessly, drawing people into her vision. And then, when the music begins, Nija transforms before your eyes. From orchestrating a memorial service with precision and care, she becomes the lead singer of a band of Hidden Gems, lifting hearts with a voice that seems to descend straight from Heaven.
