With so much happening throughout the world, it is easy for a tragedy thousands of miles away to escape our attention.

But this one did not happen to strangers.

It happened to our family.

Some of our neighbors, friends, and master gardeners are from Colombia. They live among us. They work beside us. They worship with us. They serve our community.

They are our family—and we help family in times of crisis.

When Pastor Kyev P. Tatum, Sr. learned about the earthquake affecting Colombia, he asked:

“What can we do as the Church Universal to help our family?”

That question gave birth to Operation Compassion for Colombia.

This is more than a relief effort.

This is family helping family.

From Fort Worth to Colombia, we are calling upon churches, businesses, organizations, congregations, families, and people of goodwill to help provide supplies, resources, financial support, prayer, and compassion to families in need.

We may not be able to do everything.

But everybody can do something.

Start where you are.
Use what you have.
Do what you can.

Because when everybody brings their little together, a little becomes much when God is in it.

Operation Compassion for Colombia has connected directly with the home pastor of our Colombian neighbors, who will serve as our lead pastoral partner on the ground in Colombia.

Pastor Tatum says:

“This is what true Christianity looks like. We show compassion. We care about our fellow man. We help people who are hurting. Colombia may be thousands of miles from Fort Worth, but compassion does not recognize borders. They are our family, and we help family in times of crisis.”

New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church will serve as the collection and distribution hub for Operation Compassion for Colombia.
