Our Mission


The Cowtown Community Challenge™ is a citywide movement that begins in 76104 and grows across every neighborhood in Fort Worth.


We believe lasting change begins where the need is greatest and expands as communities work together.


Our mission is to unite neighborhoods, churches, schools, businesses, nonprofits, healthcare providers, civic leaders, farmers, and families to build a healthier, safer, and stronger Fort Worth.


Why We Begin in 76104


Every great movement starts somewhere.


We begin in 76104 because this community has faced significant health and economic challenges while continuing to demonstrate extraordinary resilience, faith, and leadership.


Our goal is not simply to improve one ZIP code.


Our goal is to create a model of community transformation that can inspire neighborhoods throughout Fort Worth and beyond.


Why the Challenge Matters Now


America is facing a defining moment.


Across the nation, millions of people have lost access to SNAP food assistance since changes to the federal program began taking effect. Many of those affected are children and working families. As additional policy changes are implemented, many communities are preparing for increased demand on local food banks, churches, schools, and nonprofit organizations.


At the same time, many neighborhoods continue to experience the effects of violence, trauma, social isolation, and limited access to healthy food and mental wellness resources.


These challenges remind us that communities cannot rely on government alone. Lasting change also requires neighbors helping neighbors.


That is why the Cowtown Community Challenge™ exists.

Our Vision


We envision a Fort Worth where every neighborhood is healthier, every child has access to nutritious food, every senior is valued, every family has hope, and every community works together to create lasting peace.


Through initiatives like the Funkytown Food Forest, Peace From A Pallet, Faith in the Farm, Community Food Squad, and partnerships that promote community safety and healing, we are demonstrating that local action can produce lasting change.


We believe a garden can become a classroom.


A pallet can become a raised bed.


A vacant lot can become a food forest.


A stranger can become a neighbor.


A neighborhood can become a model for a city.
