THE TOUR: PEACE FROM A PALLET®

A Guided Tour with Pastor Kyev P. Tatum, Sr.

One Pallet. One Garden Box. One Block. One Community.

What if the solution to some of our greatest community challenges was hiding in something most people throw away?

That is the question that gave birth to Peace From A Pallet®, a growing movement transforming discarded wooden pallets into symbols of hope, food security, economic opportunity, environmental stewardship, and community empowerment.

The Peace From A Pallet® Guided Tour invites visitors to experience firsthand how a simple pallet can become much more than a piece of wood. It can become a garden box. A classroom. A ministry. A workforce development opportunity. A neighborhood beautification project. A pathway from dependency to productivity.

Led by Pastor Kyev P. Tatum, Sr., Senior Pastor of New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church and founder of the Funkytown Food Forest, the tour shares the story behind a vision that is changing how communities think about food, faith, and the future.

Visitors will walk through the grounds of the Funkytown Food Forest and learn how reclaimed pallets are being transformed into raised garden beds that help families grow fresh fruits and vegetables while creating opportunities for youth leadership, environmental education, and community engagement.

Along the way, guests will discover the philosophy behind Peace From A Pallet®:

From Vision to Action

Every great movement begins with an idea. Peace From A Pallet® demonstrates how vision becomes reality when ordinary people work together toward a common purpose.

From Discarded to Purpose

Just as pallets can be repurposed, people and communities can be restored. What society overlooks can become something beautiful and productive again.

From Food Deserts to Food Forests

The project seeks to transform areas with limited access to healthy food into thriving spaces that produce nourishment, health, and hope.

From the Church to the Community

The church is called to be more than a building. It is called to be a catalyst for transformation. Peace From A Pallet® puts faith into action.

From Consumers to Producers

The goal is not simply to receive resources but to help people develop the skills and confidence to create, grow, build, and lead.

At the heart of the tour is a simple but powerful message:

“Peace From A Pallet is more than a project. It is a mindset shift that grows communities one garden box at a time.”

— Pastor Kyev P. Tatum, Sr.

Inspired by James 3:18, Peace From A Pallet® teaches that peacemakers plant seeds of righteousness that produce a harvest of blessing for generations to come.

The tour is ideal for churches, schools, community organizations, neighborhood associations, civic leaders, environmental groups, gardeners, and anyone interested in innovative approaches to community transformation.

Come see what is possible when faith meets action, when service meets sustainability, and when a simple pallet becomes a tool for changing lives.
