Children in Morningside with God’s Army at New Mount Rose Turn Flowers from a Funeral into Beloved Beautiful Bouquets
FORT WORTH, TEXAS — This past weekend was a busy and blessed one at New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church in the heart of Fort Worth’s historic Morningside community.
On Saturday, volunteers gathered for the Build A Garden Box for the Block Project, helping expand the church’s vision for food security through the Funkytown Food Forest.
On Sunday afternoon, neighbors and community partners came together for the After the Fire BBQ & Fellowship, providing food, fellowship, hope, and encouragement to families impacted by the recent apartment fire across from the church.
But between the building and the barbecue, the church family also paused to celebrate the life of a beloved sister in Christ during a beautiful homegoing service.
The sanctuary was filled with worship, gratitude, cherished memories, and magnificent floral arrangements that offered comfort to grieving hearts.
When the service ended, the flowers remained.
Most people would have seen flowers that had completed their assignment.
The children of God’s Army at New Mount Rose saw something different.
They saw beauty.
They saw opportunity.
They saw possibility.
When the children arrived on Monday morning, they eagerly embraced a new challenge led by Aracely Ramos. Together, they carefully disassembled the floral arrangements, sorted the flowers by color and type, cleaned the vases, trimmed the stems, and began creating something entirely new.
One flower at a time.
One stem at a time.
One vase at a time.
One bouquet at a time.
What once stood beside a casket became a gift of love.
What once comforted a grieving family became a blessing for another family.
What appeared to be the end of one journey became the beginning of another.
The children laughed, learned, created, and discovered an important lesson: God can take what remains and make something remarkable.
When the bouquets were finished, many of the children already knew exactly who would receive them.
Some chose their mothers.
Others selected their grandmothers.
Some wanted to surprise an aunt, caregiver, teacher, or loved one.
Their faces lit up with joy as they prepared to share what they had created with the people they cherish most.
From a funeral to a bouquet.
From loss to love.
From remembrance to renewal.
From sorrow to service.
From grief to gratitude.
The lesson that day was much bigger than flowers.
God’s Army at New Mount Rose is teaching children that stewardship is not measured by how much we possess, but by what we do with what God places in our hands.
In the Parable of the Talents, Jesus reminds us that faithfulness, creativity, responsibility, and courage are gifts that honor God.
These young people learned that they do not need perfect conditions, unlimited resources, or expensive supplies to make a difference.
They simply need willing hearts, working hands, and faith that believes God can transform ordinary things into extraordinary blessings.
The flowers became bouquets.
The bouquets became gifts.
The gifts became expressions of love.
And the children became living examples of what happens when young people learn to see possibility where others only see leftovers.
That is the power of faith.
That is the power of stewardship.
That is the power of creativity.
That is the power of love.
That is the power of God’s Army at New Mount Rose.

“From a Burial to a Bouquet: Children with God’s Army at New Mount Rose transformed flowers from a homegoing service into beloved beautiful bouquets for their mothers, grandmothers, and loved ones—learning that when we place what remains in God’s hands, He can create something beautiful once again.” 🌸💜🌸
