I JUST WANT TO DO GOD’S WILL. Matthew 23:11

“But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.”

— Matthew 23:11 (KJV)

By Pastor Kyev P. Tatum, Sr.

Questions about wealth, status, and personal success are common in our society. Too often, people measure a person’s value by what they own, what they earn, or what they have accumulated. But I have learned that the true measure of a life is not found in a bank account. It is found in obedience, service, sacrifice, and faithfulness to God’s calling (https://youtu.be/T7PeAaZkkwI?is=5yI2LvFnri5QDc_A).

For me, the goal has never been to become rich, build a personal empire, or seek public recognition. My desire is simple: I just want to do God’s will.

I was raised by a hardworking single mother who taught me the value of faith, perseverance, and service. Throughout my life, God has opened doors for me to serve as a pastor, mentor, advocate, educator, and community servant. Whether feeding the hungry, helping families recover from disaster, fighting for justice, mentoring young people, or building partnerships that improve lives, I have discovered that the greatest blessings come from serving others.

The true reward of this work cannot be measured in dollars and cents. It is measured in lives touched, families strengthened, souls encouraged, communities uplifted, and hope restored. Every meal served, every prayer offered, every student encouraged, every senior assisted, and every neighbor helped becomes part of a legacy far greater than personal wealth.

The greatest treasures I possess are not financial assets. They are the relationships built, the people helped, the lessons learned, the faith sustained, and the privilege of serving God’s people. If I have any riches, they are found in the love of family, the fellowship of believers, the trust of the community, and the grace of God.

Like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. declared from the mountaintop, my prayer is not for wealth or fame. My prayer is for the strength, wisdom, and courage to fulfill the assignment God has placed before me. I want my life to stand for something greater than myself. I want to leave this world better than I found it.

At the end of my journey, I am not seeking applause from people. I am seeking approval from God. I simply want to hear Him say:

“Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23

Until that day, I will continue to put my hands to the plow and keep my eyes on the promise. I will continue feeding the hungry, helping the hurting, encouraging the discouraged, and serving wherever God opens a door.

My testimony is not about what I have accumulated, but about what I have been allowed to contribute. Not about personal success, but about faithful service. Not about building my kingdom, but about advancing God’s Kingdom.

Because at the end of the day, my testimony remains the same:

I just want to do God’s will.
