Welcome, Dignity Detectives!

Your mission is to discover the hidden treasures of Historic Fretwell Cemetery and New Trinity Cemetery at People’s Memorial Park.

The treasure isn’t gold or jewels.

The treasure is history.

Every name you discover honors someone whose life helped shape Fort Worth, Texas, and America.




STEP 1

Check In at the Togetherness Tree

The Togetherness Tree serves as both the Starting Station and the Finishing Station.

At the Togetherness Tree you will:

  • Check in.
  • Receive your Hero Treasure Card(s).
  • Receive your section assignment (if applicable).
  • Open the Digging for Dignity App.
  • Review the game rules.
  • Form your team.
  • Begin your adventure.


STEP 2

Read Your Hero Treasure Card

Each card contains clues that will help you locate one or more historical heroes buried within People’s Memorial Park.

Read every clue carefully.

Think like a detective.


STEP 3

Search for Your Heroes

Using:

  • the Digging for Dignity App
  • cemetery maps
  • GPS
  • grave markers
  • historical records
  • teamwork

search for as many heroes as you can.

Take your time.

Observe carefully.

History rewards curious minds.


STEP 4

Complete the Challenges

• As you locate each hero:

• Record their name.

• Record the cemetery section.

• Read their story.

• Answer the Hero Questions.

• Scan the marker (when available).

• Complete bonus challenges.


STEP 5

Earn Points

You earn points for every completed challenge.

10 Points
Locate a hero.

20 Points
Correctly answer the Hero Questions.

25 Points
Locate an additional family member.

30 Points
Identify military service.

30 Points
Identify occupation or community contribution.

40 Points
Complete a STEM Challenge.

50 Points
Locate a Hidden Hero.

100 Points
Complete every challenge on your Hero Treasure Card.

Can you find:

• A Buffalo Soldier

• Five military veterans

• Three educators

• Two ministers

• A family buried together

• A child buried near parents

• Someone born before Emancipation

• A monument with military symbols

DIGNITY DETECTIVES CHALLENGE

Can your team answer:

Who lived the longest?

Who served in the military?

Who founded a business?

Who taught school?

Who pastored a church?

Who helped build Fort Worth?

Who has family members buried nearby?

Who inspires you the most?

Please remember:

  • Walk—do not run.
  • Stay on designated pathways whenever possible.
  • Respect every grave and monument.
  • Do not climb, lean on, or move markers.
  • Leave every area exactly as you found it.
  • Work together.
  • Encourage one another.
  • Have fun while honoring sacred ground.

Turn in your Hero Treasure Card.

Share your favorite discovery.

Compare scores with other teams.
