WE TOO SING: America 250 Memorial Day Celebration to Honor Veterans and Legacy at Tuskegee Airmen Texas State Veterans Home.

FORT WORTH, Texas — As America prepares to commemorate 250 years of history through the nationwide America250 observance, veterans, families, civic leaders, and community supporters across North Texas are invited to gather for a powerful Memorial Day celebration honoring courage, sacrifice, and the enduring legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen.

The special event, titled “WE TOO SING: America 250 Memorial Day,” will take place on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Tuskegee Airmen Texas State Veterans Home located at 2200 Joe B. Rushing Road, Fort Worth, TX 76119.

Community members are encouraged to join members of the Claude R. Platte DFW Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. for this meaningful America250 Memorial Day observance celebrating the lives and sacrifices of America’s military heroes.

Memorial Day 2026 holds profound national significance as communities across the country begin reflecting on America’s 250th anniversary. In Fort Worth and throughout the nation, Memorial Day events this year are intentionally weaving together 250 years of military service, sacrifice, patriotism, and remembrance into traditional ceremonies, concerts, educational programs, and tributes honoring fallen heroes.

Opened in March 2025, the Tuskegee Airmen Texas State Veterans Home is a state-of-the-art 120-bed skilled nursing facility dedicated to serving veterans, spouses, and Gold Star parents. The facility provides long-term care services, including a specialized memory care unit designed to compassionately serve aging veterans and their loved ones. Eligible veterans with a 70% or greater service-connected disability may reside at the home at no cost.

The Claude R. Platte DFW Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. continues to preserve and promote the extraordinary legacy of America’s first Black military aviators through youth aerospace education, aviation mentoring, leadership development, historical preservation, and community engagement initiatives throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

Organizers say the event will serve as both a remembrance ceremony and a celebration of perseverance, patriotism, and progress — reminding future generations that the story of America includes the courage and contributions of those who often had to fight for freedom abroad while simultaneously fighting for equality at home.

Residents, veterans, families, churches, schools, civic organizations, and supporters from across the region are encouraged to attend this special Memorial Day observance.
