THE ROAD TO REDEMPTION: FCA’s Fields of Faith Movement Eyes Morningside for Major Youth Revival on October 14th.
FORT WORTH — What began as a conversation high above downtown Fort Worth could soon become one of the most significant faith-centered youth movements ever organized in the city’s historic Morningside community.
Texas Rangers legendary pitcher Mike Jeffcoat and Pastor Kyev P. Tatum Sr. recently connected during the Fellowship of Christian Athletes luncheon at the Petroleum Club, where faith leaders, coaches, athletes, and community advocates gathered to discuss how FCA ministry programs can help bring hope, healing, leadership, and spiritual transformation to children and families in Fort Worth’s inner-city communities, including the historic 76104 ZIP code.
Pastor Tatum attended alongside David Ramos and Aracely Vasquez of God’s Army as conversations quickly turned toward the possibility of bringing FCA’s nationally recognized Fields of Faith movement to Morningside on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026.
The event would coincide with FCA’s annual global Fields of Faith observance, traditionally held on the second Wednesday in October, when students and communities around the world gather on athletic fields to publicly share their faith and encourage one another through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Fields of Faith is an FCA ministry initiative that brings together students, athletes, coaches, churches, schools, and community leaders to challenge young people to read the Bible daily and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and His church.
Organizers say the vision for Morningside is bold, urgent, and deeply faith-driven:
“This community does not simply need another program,” Tatum said. “It needs a movement of God.”
The initiative comes as community leaders continue grappling with rising youth violence and longstanding disparities in southeast Fort Worth. Public health studies have identified the 76104 ZIP code as having one of the lowest life expectancies in Texas, with generations of families facing challenges connected to poverty, violence, trauma, and limited access to opportunity.
Supporters believe Fields of Faith could become both a spiritual rallying point and a bridge uniting churches, schools, coaches, athletes, parents, mentors, and youth organizations from across the city.
Organizers also say they plan to reach out to Gospel music icons including Kirk Franklin, Tamela Mann and other nationally known Gospel artists to help lead praise, worship, and revival moments during the event.
“Young people are hungry for a genuine move of God,” Tatum said. “We believe God can bring children together from across our city with one purpose — to heal minds, bodies, souls, families, and communities through Jesus Christ.”
Planning meetings are already underway as organizers seek sponsors, volunteers, churches, schools, athletic programs, and community partners to help make the event possible.
“We need all hands on deck,” Tatum said. “This is about saving lives, building leaders, restoring hope, and helping a generation discover purpose through faith.”
