FORT WORTH — In the heart of Fort Worth’s historic 76104 community, a new digital bridge is preparing to open one Chromebook at a time.
Thanks to a generous partnership with Cook Children’s Health Plan, New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church will receive twenty new Chromebooks that church and community leaders say will help open “The Digital Front Door in 76104.”
For many families in Morningside and surrounding neighborhoods, access to reliable technology has long remained out of reach. Leaders at New Mount Rose say the new Chromebooks will represent more than computers — they will symbolize opportunity, access, workforce development, education, healthcare resources, and hope.
“As the Digital Front Door in 76104, we are creating pathways for people to connect with programs and resources that can change lives,” said Pastor Kyev Tatum of New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church.
The church’s expanding digital initiatives will include the University of North Texas at Dallas Citizenship Program, Community Justice Workers Certification Program, Community Health Workers Certification Program, tutoring and educational enrichment opportunities, gaming and digital engagement programs for children in Morningside, and increased access to valuable healthcare information and online health resources for families throughout the community.
Church leaders say the technology expansion is part of a larger vision to help close the digital divide in one of Fort Worth’s most historically underserved ZIP codes.
“What once seemed impossible is becoming reality,” Tatum said. “Every Chromebook will become a classroom. Every screen will become a doorway to learning. Every connection will become a bridge across the digital divide and provide greater access to healthcare information, educational advancement, and workforce opportunities.”
The initiative reflects New Mount Rose’s broader mission of blending faith, education, healthcare access, workforce training, and community transformation throughout 76104.
In partnership with Cook Children’s Health Plan, the church hopes the Chromebooks will help residents gain access to citizenship preparation classes, online certifications, educational resources, telehealth opportunities, digital healthcare information, and community support systems that can strengthen both families and the broader community.
“In a community where access to technology and healthcare resources has too often been limited, these Chromebooks will help cultivate a future where children can learn, adults can grow, families can connect, and neighbors can gain access to valuable healthcare information and services,” Tatum said.
As New Mount Rose continues expanding its outreach and digital programming, church leaders believe the initiative demonstrates how faith institutions can still serve as anchors for innovation, wellness, and neighborhood transformation.
“The digital front door in 76104 is opening wider than ever before,” Tatum said.
