PLOW FORWARD! Planting Tomatoes with Purpose. Luke 9:62

“What is planted in love never dies.”

In Memory of Travelle “Tre” Boyer — A Son of the Community

New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church

Pastor Kyev P. Tatum, Sr.

On Good Friday, we didn’t just remember the cross—

we lived out its call.

Today was more than a day of outdoor work—

it was a declaration of faith in motion.

Hands hit the soil.

Seeds met the ground.

Purpose was planted.

We plowed.

We planted.

We prepared for a harvest we believe God will bring forth.

We spent the day with our hands in the dirt

and our faces in the sun—

embracing the sacred rhythm of creation itself.

What looked like simple labor

was, in truth, ministry in motion.

We worked the soil.

We breathed in fresh air.

We received what can only be called

sun therapy from heaven above.

We extend our deepest gratitude to

Reverend Clyde Lawson of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church,

whose faithful labor prepared the ground before we ever arrived.

Because the soil was ready—

the vision could move forward.

The Word reminds us:

“One plants, another waters, but God gives the increase.”

Today, we planted.

Tomorrow, God will water.

And in due season—

He will give the increase.

And in that moment, God reminded us:

Healing doesn’t always happen in a hospital.

Sometimes it happens in a garden.

Exercise strengthened the body.

Gardening calmed the mind.

Sunlight lifted the spirit.

Together, they formed a holy prescription—

a divine blend of exercise therapy, garden therapy, and sun therapy—

restoring not just the land,

but the people working it.

In the heart of 76104—

a community carrying the weight of the lowest life expectancy in Texas

this moment matters.

This is not just gardening.

This is health.

This is hope.

This is healing in the soil.

Fresh-grown vegetables are not a luxury here—

they are a lifeline.

And today, we planted what the Lord has already ordained.

We celebrate David, Aracely, JoJo,

and every child who showed up, dug in, and did the work.

You didn’t just plant seeds—

you planted tomatoes with purpose.

You planted discipline.

You planted responsibility.

You planted legacy.

Honoring Travelle “Tre” Boyer

Today, we did not just plant a garden—

we planted a memory.

We planted this garden in honor of Travelle “Tre” Boyer,

a son of this community and a soldier in the army of the Lord—

a young man whose life, though too short,

was filled with presence, purpose, and promise.

Tre was more than a name—

he was a spirit felt in the room,

a smile remembered in the heart,

a life that touched this church and this community.

He stood on the battlefield of life—

facing struggles, standing in faith,

and leaving behind a witness that cannot be buried.

And though he is no longer with us physically,

his impact still lives.

Every seed planted today is a reminder of Tre.

Every root that takes hold echoes his presence.

Every plant that rises toward the sun

preaches his legacy.

This garden will grow—

and as it grows, it will testify:

That Tre’s life mattered.

That Tre’s presence made a difference.

That Tre’s memory will not fade—

it will flourish.

Just like these tomatoes,

his legacy will continue to rise,

to reach,

and to feed others.

Because what is planted in love

never dies.

We are not just growing food—

we are growing faith.

We are not just cultivating crops—

we are cultivating community.

We are not just planting tomatoes—

we are planting transformation.

On the very day Christ gave His life for the world,

we gave our energy back to the earth—

reclaiming health, renewing hope, and reconnecting with purpose.

Because sometimes the best way to honor the sacrifice…

is to step outside, get in the dirt, and live.

And today—

we lived in a way that honored both Christ

and Tre.

Stay Focused.

Keep the Faith.

PLOW FORWARD!
