LOYAL TO THE SOIL. Genesis 2:15. Ministers Justice Coalition Get Black To Our Roots at New Mount Rose in 76104.

There are moments when heaven touches earth so gently…

you almost miss it.

But not this time.

In the heart of Fort Worth’s Morningside community—76104—

something sacred is taking root.

Not just in the ground…

but in the people.

When Central Texas farmers Ken and P. Wade Ross came to New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church, they didn’t just bring knowledge…

They brought wisdom.

They didn’t just bring seeds…

They brought a standard.

They came teaching us—and now teaching the world—

what it means to be:

Loyal to the Soil.

THE MOMENT THAT CHANGED THE GARDEN

As the community gathered around the soil…

watching, learning, listening…

Brother Ken paused.

He looked across the garden—studying not just what was there…

but what was missing.

And then he said one word:

“We must plant sunflowers.”

In that moment, something shifted.

Because what sounded like farming advice…

was really a divine alignment.

THE SCIENCE IN THE SEED

Scientifically, the sunflower is one of the most strategic plants you can place in a garden:

* It draws pollinators—bees and butterflies—that make everything else grow

* It protects crops by attracting pests away like a natural shield

* It creates shade in the Texas heat, covering what is vulnerable

* It becomes a living support system—lifting what cannot stand alone

* It thrives in harsh conditions—proving resilience is built into its design

Sunflowers don’t just grow…

They make everything around them better.

THE SPIRIT IN THE SUNFLOWER

But what makes the sunflower powerful in the soil…

makes it holy in the Spirit.

Because the sunflower has one sacred habit:

It turns toward the sun.

From sunrise to sunset…

it follows the light.

And in that moment, the lesson became clear:

What the farmer spoke in the natural…

God revealed in the spiritual.

Pastor Tatum lifted it higher:

“Just like the sunflower turns toward the sun…

we must turn toward the Son.”

When life gets hard—

turn toward the Son.

When the soil feels dry—

turn toward the Son.

When you don’t know what to do next—

turn toward the Son.

Because the same way the sun gives life to the flower…

The Son gives life to the soul.

THE GARDEN IS THE COMMUNITY

In 76104—where life expectancy has been among the lowest in the state—

this garden is not cosmetic.

It is corrective.

This is what happens when:

We become Loyal to the Soil

And commit to Turning to the Son

This garden teaches us:

* How to grow our own food

* How to restore our own health

* How to rebuild our own community

* How to believe in our own future

THE SUNFLOWER & THE SEED OF ECONOMIC SUCCESS

And now… the revelation goes even deeper.

The sunflower is not just a tool for the garden.

It is now the symbol of success for our Coffee Allo Cooperative.

Because just like the sunflower:

* Coffee begins with a seed

* It requires cultivation, patience, and care

* It must be nurtured before it can nourish others

* And when done right… it creates opportunity

Through the Coffee Allo Cooperative, we are not just growing plants…

We are growing an economy.

An economy rooted in:

* Ownership

* Entrepreneurship

* Skill development

* Community wealth

This is how we move:

From the soil…

to the seed…

to the sip…

to sustainability.

The sunflower reminds us:

Stay rooted

Stay resilient

Stay reaching for the light

Because success is not just about what you gain…

It’s about what you grow that blesses others.

THE DECLARATION

So when you walk onto the garden at New Mount Rose…

And you see those hands in the soil…

And those sunflowers standing tall…

Don’t just see a garden.

See:

* A farmer’s wisdom

* A pastor’s revelation

* A community’s restoration

* And an economic future being planted in real time

Because here in 76104…

We are not just planting seeds.

We are planting alignment.

We are planting opportunity.

We are planting ownership.

We are planting legacy.

LOYAL TO THE SOIL.

And just like the sunflower…

We will always turn toward the Son.

And by the grace of God…

Everything we touch will grow.
