In a time when communities are searching for answers,

we are returning to something timeless.

The soil.

The seed.

The stewardship of our own hands.

Black to Our Roots is more than a gardening initiative—

it is a movement of restoration.

A return to wisdom.

A reclaiming of knowledge.

A rebuilding of self-sustaining communities from the ground up.

This is where faith meets food,

where legacy meets land,

and where service begins at the root.

A LIVING CLASSROOM FOR A LASTING LEGACY

Today, this movement comes alive in the gardens of churches within the Ministers Justice Coalition—

with a hands-on demonstration at New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas.

Under the leadership of P. Wade Ross, participants will engage in a transformative, real-time learning experience:

“Building a Pest, Heat, and Disease-Resistant Garden Using Natural Fertilizer”

Because in Texas heat, in urban soil, and in challenging conditions—

we don’t just plant… we prepare to persevere.

You will learn how to:

* Strengthen plants naturally without harmful chemicals

* Build resilience in extreme heat conditions

* Prevent disease before it starts

* Grow gardens that don’t just survive—but endure and produce

HOW IT WORKS: THE SOIL FOOD WEB

At the heart of this movement is a deeper truth:

Healthy Soil = Healthy Food = Healthy People

Drawing from the principles of the Soil Food Web School, this session reveals the hidden system beneath our feet:

* The living ecosystem within the soil

* Beneficial microbes that nourish and protect plants

* The balance between bacteria, fungi, and organic matter

* How to regenerate soil, not just use it

Because when you understand the soil—

you unlock the system God designed to sustain life itself.

WHAT’S NEXT: NATURAL FERTILIZER DEMONSTRATION

This is just the beginning.

Our next session will focus on:

“Natural Fertilizer: Feeding the Soil That Feeds Us”

Participants will discover:

* How to create organic fertilizers from everyday materials

* Composting techniques that restore life to depleted soil

* Affordable ways to grow nutrient-rich food

* How waste can become wealth—right in your own backyard

RAISING OUR OWN TO SERVE

This is about more than gardening.

It’s about:

* Teaching our children where food truly comes from

* Equipping families with tools for independence

* Creating economic pathways through agriculture

* Healing communities through hands-on purpose

Because when we grow our own food—

we grow our own future.

When we teach our own people—

we raise our own leaders.

And when we serve from the soil—

we strengthen the soul of the community.

THE MOVEMENT

Black to Our Roots declares:

We will not wait for systems to save us.

We will not depend on what we can produce ourselves.

We will not forget the power in our heritage.

We will grow.

We will teach.

We will serve.

From the ground up.
