SERVE THE LORD WITH GLADNESS: Missionaries in Morningside at New Mount Rose. Filling Bowls. Blessing Souls. Proverbs 19:17
“Serve the Lord with gladness.” — Psalm 100:2
After one of the most challenging winter seasons our community has faced since the winter storm of 2021, missionaries are once again showing up to serve in the Morningside community alongside New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church. Through a meaningful partnership with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of Fort Worth, these missionaries continue to demonstrate what faith in action truly looks like.
They stood with us during the pandemic.
They worked beside us during the recovery.
And now they have returned once again to help strengthen our families and uplift our children.
Their service begins with supporting the New Mount Rose Community Food Bowls, a ministry dedicated to feeding families with dignity and compassion. Through this effort, thousands of families across Fort Worth have received food, encouragement, and hope.
We are especially grateful for the partnership with Midwest Food Bank, which has provided more than one million dollars’ worth of food and supplies to help sustain this vital ministry.
But the missionaries did not come simply to observe.
They came to serve.
Some missionaries talk about service.
These missionaries are about action.
They are stepping directly into the life of the community through ministries that make a real difference.

One of those ministries is our afterschool tutoring and mentoring program, God’s Army, where missionaries are helping provide mentoring, tutoring, and encouragement for neighborhood children. At a time when many young people are struggling to catch up in reading and learning, their presence offers both academic support and positive role models.
Another initiative that is especially close to Pastor Kyev P. Tatum, Sr.’s heart is Operation Chicken Coop, a new urban farming project being developed as part of the New Mount Rose urban garden and farm. This innovative effort will teach families about food sustainability, responsibility, and entrepreneurship, while giving young people the opportunity to learn valuable life lessons through agriculture and stewardship of the land.
Yet what makes this partnership truly special is not just the programs.
It is the spirit behind them.
We are witnessing a unique and beautiful collaboration between believers from different cultures, colors, and communities—yet united by one purpose. Though our traditions may differ, we serve the same Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Jesus reminds us in Matthew 9:37:
“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.”
But here in Morningside, God has sent laborers.
Through the partnership between New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of Fort Worth, bowls are being filled, children are being mentored, families are being strengthened, and hope is growing in the heart of our community.
And for that, we give thanks.
Thank God for the Missionaries in Morningside.
Together we are filling bowls, blessing souls, and serving the Lord with gladness.
