NOSOTROS LA GENTE ACADEMY AT NEW MOUNT ROSE. A Black, Brown & Tan Collaborative for Citizenship, Community, and Freedom.

A NEW MODEL: CULTIVATING CITIZENSHIP TOGETHER.

“Yearning to Be Free.” — Luke 4:18

A Black, Brown & Tan Collaborative for Citizenship, Community, and Freedom.

New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church – Fort Worth, Texas (76104)

HISTORIC COLLABORATION

In a bold and timely response to the needs of a growing and diverse city, a transformative coalition has emerged:

New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church of Fort Worth

League of United Latin American Citizens

Ministers Justice Coalition of Texas

University of North Texas at Dallas

Together, these partners launch:

Nosotros La Gente Academy

This is more than a Black and Brown partnership—

it is the living expression of a Black, Brown, and Tan Caucus vision:

Bringing together African American, Latino, and Asian communities

To solve society’s most pressing challenges

While cultivating citizenship—for others and for ourselves

This is not just collaboration.

This is collective transformation.

A NEW MODEL: CULTIVATING CITIZENSHIP TOGETHER

Nosotros La Gente Academy redefines citizenship as more than a legal status.

It is a shared practice of belonging, responsibility, and leadership.

Here, three communities come together to:

Teach citizenship to those seeking it

Practice citizenship through service and solidarity

Model citizenship by working across cultural lines

In this academy:

The Black Church brings a legacy of justice and moral leadership

Latino organizations bring immigrant advocacy and cultural strength

Asian (Tan) communities bring global perspective, discipline, and innovation

Together, we declare:

We are not waiting to belong—we are building belonging.

OVERVIEW

Nosotros La Gente Academy is a faith-inspired, community-rooted initiative serving immigrant families across Fort Worth—especially in the historic 76104 community.

Housed at New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church, the academy provides a comprehensive pathway to citizenship and economic mobility through:

Citizenship preparation

ESL (English as a Second Language)

GED and adult education

Legal awareness and support

Workforce development

Grounded in Luke 4:18, this work reflects a ministry of liberation:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me… He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the captives and release for the oppressed.”

THE NEED IN FORT WORTH

Fort Worth continues to grow as a diverse and dynamic city.

Immigrant families sustain the city through:

Educational gaps (GED, digital literacy)

Fear, uncertainty, and isolation

WHY FAITH MATTERS

At New Mount Rose, this is not charity—it is calling.

The church stands as a sacred bridge between cultures, offering:

Safe and trusted space

Compassionate mentorship

Cultural connection across communities

A pathway from hope to opportunity

In this space, Black, Brown, and Tan communities meet—not in competition, but in covenant.

THE POWER OF BLACK, BROWN & TAN UNITY

Nosotros La Gente Academy represents a historic alignment:

The prophetic witness of the Black Church

The resilience and courage of immigrant families

The civic leadership of Latino organizations

The global insight and discipline of Asian communities
