“Plow Forward.” Luke 9:62

“No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.” Song of the New Abolition by Nija Higgins: https://youtu.be/u_cXAC5-zto?si=8Jz0VWGeBey0hRvA

The Black Vote Block (BVB) is a new effort to engage, energize, and empower the next generation of freedom fighters through civic responsibility and community leadership.

This movement is rooted in faith, courage, and responsibility. Just as scripture teaches that those who take hold of the plow must press forward without looking back, we too must move forward with determination to build stronger communities and a more just society.

Our mission is simple but powerful:

Organize the vote.
Protect the vote.
Elevate the voice of the Black community.

The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 29:2:

“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.”

Throughout American history, civic participation has been one of the ways communities have helped shape the direction of the nation.

As we reflect on the long journey toward justice and dignity in America, we also remember the life, love, and legacy of Jesse Jackson, whose vision helped bring people of many backgrounds together in what he called the Rainbow Coalition. His work reminded the nation that unity across communities can strengthen the moral voice of democracy.

Inspired by that legacy of cooperation and shared purpose, many communities today continue striving to build stronger neighborhoods, stronger institutions, and stronger bonds of civic responsibility. The call remains the same: to work together in ways that uplift communities, honor dignity, and expand opportunity for future generations.

Across America, people of every background — Black, Brown, White, and beyond — continue seeking ways to strengthen democracy, dignity, and freedom. History has often shown that when communities organize together with purpose and unity, the nation moves closer to its founding promise of justice and equality.

The Black Vote Block exists to help ensure that community voices are heard, that neighborhoods are not overlooked, and that the future is shaped with the participation of those who live in it.

Scripture reminds us in Ecclesiastes 4:9:

“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor.”

When we organize together, we strengthen our collective voice.

We are building a movement of informed voters, courageous leaders, and engaged citizens who understand that civic participation is not simply a political act — it is also a responsibility carried forward by generations who fought, marched, prayed, and sacrificed for the freedoms many enjoy today.

The prophet reminds us in Micah 6:8:

“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with thy God.”

Justice requires participation.

Now it is our turn.

If we are going to shape the future of our communities and our country, we must strengthen the bonds of civic responsibility and stand together as Voices of the Empowered.

And as we organize and mobilize, we remember the promise of Galatians 6:9:

“Let us not grow weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

So we plow forward.

Forward in faith.
Forward in unity.
Forward in courage.

Because when people stand together with purpose and conviction.

history moves forward.
