WHEN HONOR IS DUE: The Texas Buffalo Soldiers Association Joins the Warriors Remembrance & Research Foundation and the Travis Manion Foundation for the 2026 Honor Project.
FORT WORTH, TEXAS — When honor is due, we answer the call.
The Texas Buffalo Soldiers Association is proud to partner with the Warriors Remembrance & Research Foundation (WRRF) and the Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) for the 2026 Honor Project at New Trinity Cemetery. This sacred gathering will pay tribute to the fallen heroes whose service and sacrifice secured the freedoms we enjoy today (https://www.remember4veterans.com/newtrinitycemetery).
“We are grateful to have been selected to participate in this important honor,” says Pastor Kyev P. Tatum, Sr., event coordinator, Senior Pastor of New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church of Fort Worth, and President of the Ministers Justice Coalition of Texas. “Our military men and women deserve to be honored, recognized, and respected by all who have benefited from their sacrifice.”

The Warriors Remembrance & Research Foundation is committed to ensuring that no veteran is forgotten. WRRF:
• Locates and documents veterans’ graves across Texas community and municipal cemeteries
• Ensures every grave is marked with a veteran medallion flag holder and a 12x18” American flag
• Raises public awareness so families and future generations know who among us served
If we, as a nation, declare that “we will never forget,” then we must demonstrate it — not only in words, but in visible and lasting acts of remembrance.
Honoring L.D. Livingston
This year, special recognition will be given to L.D. Livingston, a Fort Worth native whose life embodied excellence and service. Livingston was:
• A Negro League baseball standout
• A United States Army veteran
• A former New York Harlem Police Officer
Now laid to rest at New Trinity Cemetery, his legacy stands as a testament to courage on the field, in uniform, and in public service.
A Cemetery Restored — A Legacy Reclaimed
Since July 28, 2025 — National Buffalo Soldiers Day — New Trinity Cemetery has experienced a remarkable transformation. What was once forgotten ground has become sacred soil for over 500 military veterans buried there.
Recent milestones include:
• A major cleanup led by the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Labor Detail (August–November 2025)
• A Veterans Day Rededication Ceremony in November
• Wreaths Across America in December with American Legion Post 655
• The inaugural Buffalo Soldiers MLK Day of Service in January
• “Digging for Dignity” historical tours hosted by the Texas Buffalo Soldiers Association and Friends of New Trinity Cemetery
New Trinity is no longer neglected ground. It is now a place of grace.
The Travis Manion Foundation: “If Not Me, Then Who”
In 2026, the Travis Manion Foundation will expand its Memorial Day efforts to more than 60 cemeteries nationwide. Volunteers will place handcrafted commemorative tokens at the resting places of fallen heroes and pause to reflect on their service.
Founded in memory of 1stLt Travis Manion, USMC — who was killed in Iraq in 2007 while saving his wounded teammates — TMF lives by his powerful words:
“If Not Me, Then Who…”
Guided by that ethos, veterans and families of fallen heroes continue serving their communities, mentoring youth, and strengthening the character of our nation.
TMF is a community open to all — veterans and civilians alike — who share a passion for service, sacrifice, and honoring our fallen.
When Forgotten Ground Becomes Sacred Sound
On Saturday, May 16, 2026, the flags will rise. Medallions will shine. Names will be spoken. Stories will be remembered.
Because when honor is due, we do not delay.
When sacrifice has been made, we do not forget.
And when heroes rest among us, we rise to remember them.
