THE COMMUNITY MOST VALUABLE PRAISERS: The MVP Ramos Family Served the Lord with Gladness at the New Mount Rose Warming Center.
THE COMMUNITY MOST VALUABLE PRAISERS: The MVP Ramos Family Served the Lord with Gladness at the New Mount Rose Warming Center.
After every Super Bowl, the spotlight turns to the MVP. Cameras flash. Confetti falls. And when asked what comes next, the answer is almost automatic:
“I’m going to Disneyland.”
But in Morningside, at New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, we witnessed a different kind of MVP performance — no stadium lights, no endorsement deals, no trophies lifted high.
Just service.
Just sacrifice.
Just Psalm 100:2 in motion: “Serve the Lord with gladness.”
And the Most Valuable Praisers?
David and Aracely Ramos — along with their incredible children.
Beautiful. Faithful. Simply amazing people.

When the Call Came, They Said, “Let’s Do It.”
When Pastor Kyev P. Tatum approached David about the bold idea of opening the church as a 24-hour warming center during the winter storm, the urgency was real. Unsheltered neighbors were freezing. Shelter space was limited. The moment required courage, compassion, and commitment.
David’s response was immediate:
“Let’s do it.”
No hesitation.
No negotiation.
No committee meeting.
Just obedience.
And for the next 168 hours — seven straight days — the Ramos family did not merely volunteer. They anchored the mission.
⸻
168 Hours of Hands-On Ministry
When police cars pulled up in the middle of the night with neighbors seeking refuge, David and the children were ready. Blankets in hand. Bed covers prepared. A warm welcome waiting.
They did not see statistics.
They saw souls.
They did not see inconvenience.
They saw opportunity.
Aracely, balancing online meetings and professional responsibilities, modeled what true multitasking ministry looks like. She transitioned from presentation mode to prayer mode without missing a beat — serving meals, offering encouragement, coordinating needs, and demonstrating that leadership in the home and leadership in the House of God can move in harmony.
And the children?
They sang during Sunday morning service for our unsheltered guests. It was not a performance. It was praise. Their young voices filled the sanctuary with joy, reminding everyone present that faith is generational and service is taught best by example.
⸻
A Baptism Moment No One Will Forget
When it came time for baptisms during the warming center week, David stood ready to assist. But the moment deepened when his youngest son quietly expressed that he wanted to be baptized alongside the others.
No one scripted it.
No one orchestrated it.
It was simply God-ordained.
In that sacred moment, service met surrender.
And ministry became legacy.
⸻
The Warming Center Was Just One Chapter
The Ramos family’s impact did not begin with the winter storm — and it certainly does not end there.
Their faithful service at New Mount Rose includes:
• Leadership support during Winter Youth Camp
• Active involvement with Skills City Resilience Responders
• Organizing efforts for the MLK Hunger Bowl, helping distribute over 50,000 pounds of food on the MLK Day of Service
• Mentoring and strengthening children and families through hands-on engagement
They serve on the block.
They serve in the building.
They serve behind the scenes.
And they serve together.
⸻
Missionaries in Morningside
David and Aracely do not serve for applause. If praised, they are quick to redirect the glory back to God.
Yet truth must be spoken:
The New Mount Rose Warming Center would not have succeeded without them.
Their consistency stabilized the environment.
Their presence reassured our guests.
Their joy shifted the atmosphere.
They are not merely volunteers.
They are Most Valuable Praisers.
⸻
A Community’s Gratitude
Pastor Tatum shared that if any MVPs deserved a celebratory trip for their extraordinary service, it would be the Ramos family.
Not because they sought recognition.
But because they embodied righteousness.
In a culture that often celebrates celebrity over character, the Ramos family reminds us that true greatness is found in glad service.
They showed their children that faith is not merely sung — it is lived.
They showed the church that ministry is not seasonal — it is sacrificial.
They showed the community that love is not theoretical — it is practical.
⸻
Serving the Lord With Gladness
Psalm 100:2 is not decorative scripture in the Ramos household.
It is their lifestyle.
They serve with gladness when it is convenient.
They serve with gladness when it is exhausting.
They serve with gladness when no one is watching.
Because of that:
Lives were warmed.
Souls were strengthened.
Hope was restored.
To David, Aracely, and your beautiful children —
You are the kind of missionaries every community prays for.
You are the kind of family that strengthens a church.
You are the kind of servants Heaven applauds.
The confetti may not have fallen.
The cameras may not have rolled.
But make no mistake —
You were, and remain, the MVPs of Morningside.
Simply amazing.
