“We take the Church to the Community to Bring the Community Back to Church.” – Pastor K.P. Tatum, Sr.

COVER STORY: THE CHURCH THAT REFUSES TO SIT STILL

How New Mount Rose Is Redefining Ministry Through Service, Justice, Worship, Workforce Development, Food Security & Youth Empowerment

In the heart of Fort Worth’s Morningside community — a neighborhood known for resilience, heritage, and hope — stands a church that is rewriting the meaning of ministry. New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church, led by Pastor K.P. Tatum, Sr., has become a living movement where service, Scripture, justice, and community empowerment converge.

This is not a church confined to a building.
This is a church that moves.

Its mission is anchored in the life-giving force of Matthew 5:16:

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

And at New Mount Rose, the light shines through worship, through work, and through witness — from food lines to farm fields, from classrooms to choirs, from youth programs to community coalitions.

A COMMUNITY TRANSFORMED THROUGH WEEKLY MINISTRY

Sunday: Worship and the Word

The week begins with spiritual power and community connection.
Sunday School at 9:30 AM builds discipleship, grounding believers in Scripture.
Morning Worship at 11:00 AM lifts the community through preaching, praise, and the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Before the week begins, the fire is lit.

Wednesday: Worship, Study, and Song

Midweek at New Mount Rose is where believers recharge, refocus, and reconnect.

• Wednesday Worship & Bible Study — 6:30 PM

A rich, in-depth exploration of God’s Word that strengthens faith, deepens understanding, and draws the community together in fellowship and teaching.

• Choir Rehearsal — 7:30 PM

Where voices rise, gifts are sharpened, and the songs of Zion are prepared to minister on Sunday and beyond.

Midweek ministry keeps the spiritual flame burning bright.

Monday–Thursday: Skills City, USA and the Ministry of Hands-On Hope

While many churches slow down after Sunday, New Mount Rose rises into action.

From 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the campus becomes Skills City, USA, a trauma-informed care and workforce readiness hub offering pathways to employment, stability, and dignity.

Supporting this mission are three essential ministries:

• New Mount Rose Resilience Responders

Walking with families through crisis, loss, and recovery.

• New Mount Rose Storehouse

Distributing resources, clothing, and household supplies with dignity and compassion.

• New Mount Rose Pamper City, USA

An oasis of rest and care for seniors, caregivers, and neighbors.
Healing includes tenderness — and Pamper City provides it abundantly.

Thursday: Advocacy, Justice, and Feeding the Multitude

At 11:00 AM every Thursday, the church convenes the Ministers Justice Coalition, leading the region in faith-based justice, policy advocacy, and community empowerment.

On the First Thursday of each month, the church expands its reach with the Community Food Bowl, nourishing families with fresh groceries and heartfelt care.

But New Mount Rose doesn’t stop at feeding the people — it is also growing the food.

FAITH IN THE FARM COLLECTIVE:

Growing Food. Growing Faith. Growing Freedom.

Through its partnership with the Small Farmers and Ranchers Community Based Organization, New Mount Rose is cultivating a groundbreaking farm-and-faith initiative: the Faith in the Farm Collective.

This movement brings rural farmers and urban families into a shared mission of renewal:
Fresh produce sourced from local small farmers
Economic empowerment for underserved rural communities
A healthy-food pipeline serving urban households
Agricultural training for youth and adults
A biblical model of stewardship, sustainability, and restoration

This is ministry rooted in the soil and rising toward the Kingdom.

FUN OVER GUNS – iCXSports

Raising Our Own to Succeed While Training Our Own to Serve

New Mount Rose is equally committed to preserving the lives and futures of young people through its Fun Over Guns iCXSports initiative.

This dynamic youth program gives young people:
Safe spaces to play, train, and compete
Alternatives to gun violence and street culture
Mentorship built on discipline, teamwork, and accountability
Athletic pathways that cultivate leadership and purpose
A supportive community that nurtures both success and service

Fun Over Guns is not just a program — it is a pledge to protect the next generation.
