DENTON, TEXAS The University of North Texas Division of Finance & Administration is celebrating greatness—and this week, the spotlight is on Skills City, USA at New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church of Fort Worth (https://youtu.be/o74hyjt2X1w?si=aa2MLxvjAGYDPWrw).

The Emergency Management and Safety Services team in Risk Management Services proudly welcomed Pastor Kyev Tatum and the dynamic participants of the Skills City, USA Resilience Responders Initiative to the UNT campus. This groundbreaking program—built in collaboration with Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County and the Ministers Justice Coalition of Texas—is transforming everyday residents into extraordinary protectors and community champions (https://youtu.be/BJrSvUvf5H0?si=4SW45pgH5G5OpKwG).

Skills City is equipping individuals from historically under-served neighborhoods with hands-on training in emergency response, disaster readiness, and public safety. We are raising up trusted community leaders—prepared, confident, and ready to stand in the gap when crisis strikes. Together, we are building a safer, stronger, more resilient Fort Worth.

The group recently gathered outside UNT’s Emergency Operations Center with members of the EMSS team—standing proudly as a symbol of what partnership, purpose, and preparation can accomplish.

Now is the time to join this movement of empowerment.

Your support fuels training, tools, and opportunities that change lives—and save lives.
