SKILLS CITY, USA AT NEW MOUNT ROSE | A Faith-Fueled Approach to Trauma-Informed Care and Workforce Readiness. Pastor Kyev Tatum, Sr., Founder and Executive Director
FORT WORTH, TEXAS — A new faith movement is transforming Fort Worth’s 76104 community where faith, healing, and workforce development unite to restore lives and renew hope. Under the visionary leadership of Pastor Kyev Tatum, New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church has launched a groundbreaking ministry that turns pain into purpose through a faith-fueled, trauma-informed approach to personal healing and workforce readiness.
Skills City, USA: Faith at Work for the Healing of the People
Skills City, USA is a faith-based, trauma-informed workforce readiness program that helps individuals heal, rebuild their lives, and serve others in the process. Rooted in the belief that healing happens through helping, this ministry provides a nurturing environment where spiritual care meets skill-building — and faith becomes the foundation for both personal and professional renewal.
Through an innovative 12–16 week pathway, participants engage in trauma-informed healing, job readiness training, and community service. They learn to overcome life’s setbacks — whether from job loss, family disruptions, or health challenges — and rediscover their God-given purpose in a loving and supportive church environment.
Inspired by Pastor Tatum’s vision and strengthened through partnerships with Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County and the Alliance for Greater Works, Skills City offers a structured path for participants to rebuild their confidence, faith, and future — one step, one skill, and one act of service at a time.
Healing While Helping: The Resilience Responders
Out of this faith-based framework emerged The Resilience Responders — compassionate community members who embody the spirit of Isaiah 61:1:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted.”
The Resilience Responders reflect a sacred truth: healing happens when we serve others. These faith-filled individuals live out the mission of the church by serving with compassion, walking in love, and lifting others toward wholeness through both faith and action.
The Resilient Church Collective: Building Churches that Heal
New Mount Rose and Pastor Tatum proudly partner with the Alliance for Greater Works through The Resilient Church Collective — a statewide effort to strengthen congregations and equip them to respond to trauma impacting youth and adults across Texas.
This initiative helps churches become healing-centered ministries, deepening their relationship with God, strengthening their congregations, and fostering community resilience in the face of adversity such as:
• Intergenerational trauma
• The aftereffects of the COVID-19 pandemic
• Police violence in marginalized communities
• Mass shootings and community trauma
Faith Meets Economic Empowerment
Through its partnership with Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County, New Mount Rose connects residents to the Community Work Experience Program (CWEP) — bridging faith and the workforce.
Participants gain hands-on experience through placements in nonprofit and community organizations, developing real-world skills in healthcare, logistics, retail, and administration. Beyond workforce training, the program provides trauma-informed support — including mentorship, transportation assistance, and life-skills coaching — ensuring no one walks alone on their journey toward recovery and renewal.
This partnership prepares individuals not just for employment, but for purposeful, sustainable living rooted in faith, dignity, and service to others.
A Faith-Fueled Formula for Healing and Hope
By blending the church’s mission of service with trauma-informed care and workforce development, New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church has become a beacon of hope in Fort Worth’s 76104 community.
Through Skills City, USA and its Resilience Responders, Pastor Kyev Tatum and his congregation are demonstrating that healing and helping go hand in hand — creating a model where spiritual restoration meets economic empowerment, transforming both people and places in the process.
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
— Galatians 6:9
