TRAIN’EM UP! Skills City Resilience Responders Team Up with the American Red Cross for Life-Saving Training Opportunities.
FORT WORTH, TX — The Skills City Resilience Responders are stepping up once again — this time teaming with the American Red Cross to equip our community with essential disaster preparedness and response skills. Together, we’re building a new generation of faith-fueled first responders ready to help, heal, and bring hope wherever it’s needed most.
Through this dynamic collaboration, our Resilience Responders will receive free training and certification opportunities in key areas such as:
• Be Red Cross Ready: Learn how to prepare for and respond to local disasters like fires and tornadoes.
• Hands-Only CPR: A 30-minute life-saving course that anyone can learn.
• Prepare with Pedro: An engaging safety program for K–2nd graders to learn early emergency preparedness.
• Sound the Alarm: Participate in home fire prevention campaigns that save lives by installing smoke alarms and sharing fire safety education.
Responders can also advance into Disaster Action Team (DAT) training, joining Red Cross responders who serve families affected by fires, floods, and other emergencies every day.
From shelter setup and feeding operations to spiritual care and disaster recovery, this partnership will help Fort Worth’s 76104 community and beyond prepare for life’s toughest challenges — and respond with compassion, confidence, and courage.
“We help as we heal,” said Pastor Kyev Tatum, founder of Skills City and the Resilience Responders movement. “By joining forces with the American Red Cross, we’re training up a new generation of servant leaders who know how to act when others are in crisis. This is what faith in action looks like.”
Steve Abbott, Senior Disaster Program Manager with the American Red Cross North Texas Region, added,
“The Resilience Responders embody exactly what community preparedness is all about — neighbors helping neighbors. We’re proud to support their mission and look forward to growing this partnership.”
