THE LADY OF UNITY.
“Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” — Proverbs 31:29 | https://www.kltv.com/2023/12/23/webxtra-east-texas-family-celebrates-rich-heritage-military-service/
The Lady of Unity is Ms. Debra Christian — a proud member of the Daughters of the Confederacy and the visionary leader of the Christian Family Trust, which made an unprecedented and historic gift of 64 acres to the State of Texas for the establishment of a Texas State Cemetery in East Texas. This sacred act of generosity is not merely a gift of land but a gift of legacy, symbolizing faith, family, and freedom. It stands as a living testament to the Christian family’s unwavering commitment to God, country, and community, ensuring that the stories of valor and virtue are preserved for generations to come.
Ms. Christian, affectionately known as The Lady of Unity, embodies the spirit of Proverbs 31 — a woman clothed with strength, dignity, and grace, whose works bring honor to her family and glory to God. She is in Cowtown (Fort Worth, Texas) this week attending the:
Texas Division United Daughters of the Confederacy®
One Hundred Twenty-Ninth Texas Division Annual Convention
Radisson Hotel Fort Worth North–Fossil Creek
October 2–5, 2025
Gina Clark Smith, Division President
Hostess District – District VII
As America approaches its Semiquincentennial — 250 years of freedom, faith, and fortitude — we joyfully salute and celebrate Ms. Debra Christian and the more than 250 Christian Family Veterans who have served this nation with honor, courage, and conviction. These faithful patriots will be recognized with Congressional Gold Medals, honoring their connection to the legendary 369th Infantry Regiment (Harlem Hellfighters) and the courageous 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion (Six Triple Eight) — two of the most decorated African American military units in U.S. history.
The Lady in White Tribute Ceremony will take place on Monday, November 10, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Christian Resource Center, 134 Glennwood Blvd, Tyler, Texas 75702. The event will feature reflections from elected officials, military leaders, faith representatives, historians, and members of the Texas Buffalo Soldiers Association, who will present a ceremonial honor recognizing the Christian Family’s remarkable contributions to Texas, American history, and the cause of unity under God.
As Scripture declares:
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” — Matthew 5:16
Through her light, Ms. Debra Christian reminds us that true greatness is not found in power or prestige, but in service, stewardship, and sacrifice. Her family’s heritage is a bridge between past and promise — from the soil of sacrifice to the seeds of renewal.
A donation is requested for lunch, with all proceeds benefiting veterans’ heritage preservation, community service, and educational initiatives inspired by the enduring faith and legacy of the Christian Family Trust.
“The memory of the righteous is blessed.” — Proverbs 10:7
