BLACK TEXANS, INC. PRESENTS

SOULS MADE OF GOLD

250th Anniversary Veterans Celebration & Congressional Gold Medal Presentations

Honoring Black Veterans from 1775–2025

TYLER & FORT WORTH, TEXAS — Black Texans, Inc. proudly announces SOULS MADE OF GOLD, a historic commemoration marking 250 years of Black military service and sacrifice. This 10-day celebration will spotlight the extraordinary contributions of African American soldiers from the Revolutionary War to today — culminating with the presentation of Congressional Gold Medals produced by the U.S. Mint to descendants and honorees of the 369th Infantry Regiment (“Harlem Hellfighters”) and the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion (“Six Triple Eight”).

Theme Scripture:

“But He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I will come forth as gold.” — Job 23:10

“Like Job, these men and women endured the fires of adversity and emerged as pure gold,” said organizers. “This is more than a ceremony — it is a long-overdue act of national remembrance and gratitude.”

ABOUT THE CONGRESSIONAL GOLD MEDAL HONOREES

The 369th Infantry Regiment, known as the Harlem Hellfighters, was one of the most decorated African American units of World War I, serving more days in combat than any other American regiment.

The 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, nicknamed “Six Triple Eight,” was the only all-Black, all-female unit deployed overseas during World War II, processing millions of pieces of backlogged mail to boost soldier morale.

Both units were awarded the Congressional Gold Medal by the U.S. Congress, one of the nation’s highest civilian honors. The U.S. Mint has created official gold medals commemorating their courage, which will be shared with descendants, museums, and institutions to preserve their legacy for generations to come.
