GOLD FOR THE SOUL: Honoring the 6888th and 369th Infantry Regiments with Congressional Gold Medals. 


WASHINGTON, D.C. – On September 3, 2025, Emancipation Hall at the U.S. Capitol became a historic stage as the 369th Infantry Regiment, the Harlem Hellfighters, received the Congressional Gold Medal. “Heart work pays off,” reflected Pastor Kyev Tatum, citing Matthew 5:16 as a guiding principle.



Pastor Tatum, of New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Worth and the Ministers Justice Coalition of Texas, led Texas delegations to two landmark Congressional Gold Medal ceremonies in 2025. The first honored the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion of WWII on April 29, and the second recognized the 369th Infantry Regiment of WWI.



Both official invitations came directly from the Speaker of the House, a recognition Pastor Tatum calls “humbling and sacred.” These ceremonies marked the culmination of his lifelong mission: to preserve history, honor sacrifice, and inspire generations to remember the courage and legacy of these extraordinary units.
