ARLINGTON, TEXAS - Some moments are more than just memories — they become milestones. This year’s Grandparents Go to Globe Life outing was exactly that: a milestone of joy, connection, and celebration across generations.
What began as a simple plan — to treat grandparents from New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church and Mount Horum Missionary Baptist Church to a Texas Rangers game — turned into an extraordinary evening of fellowship, firsts, and family pride.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation, our grandparents and friends were gifted complimentary tickets to see the hometown Texas Rangers face the league-leading Florida Marlins. The game itself was a 12-inning thriller, with the Rangers battling until the very end. Though the Marlins pulled out the win, the real victory was in the stands.
For many of our grandparents, it was their very first visit to Globe Life Field — and you could see the magic in their faces as they took it all in. Under the glow of the stadium lights, young and old alike shared that same first-time excitement — the kind of feeling you treasure forever.
The evening became even more unforgettable when Isaiah Yates of the Texas Rangers surprised everyone with exclusive Texas Rangers HBCU hats. Seeing our grandparents proudly sporting those hats as they cheered for the Rangers turned our section into a celebration zone! To top off the night, Ms. Rosa Fox generously provided complimentary coupons for Whataburger — the perfect way to end a perfect evening.
Though we returned home later than expected, our hearts were full. The night reminded us that time spent honoring and enjoying our elders is one of the most powerful ways to build community and strengthen family bonds.
Tonya and I extend a heartfelt thanks to the Texas Rangers Baseball Team, New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church, Mount Horum Missionary Baptist Church, Heavenly Vision Missionary Baptist Church, and Skills City, USA for making this annual tradition possible.
This was more than a night at the ballpark — it was a living testament to faith, family, and fellowship. For just a few hours, under the bright lights of Globe Life Field, it truly felt like heaven on earth.
