“I must work the works of Him that sent me…” – John 9:4 (KJV)

Fort Worth, Texas — In a bold move driven by faith, fueled by action, and focused on the future, Pastor Kyev Tatum has made his first official announcement for the newly established Skills City, USA:

“Skills City will oversee all Logistics for the Community Food Bowls at New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church.”

This marks a powerful shift in how workforce development and emergency relief efforts can unite in sacred service.

Through a divine partnership with the Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County, New Mount Rose has officially become a host site for the Community Work Experience Program (CWEP). And with that, Skills City, USA was born—an innovative, faith-fueled workforce development hub led by Pastor Tatum and rooted in the resilient soil of Fort Worth’s historic Morningside community.

Faith in Action: Building Skills While Serving Souls

By placing Skills City students in charge of the monthly, Community Food Bowls, these new leaders are gaining hands-on training in emergency logistics, supply chain management, public service, and leadership. This is faith in motion—an on-the-ground curriculum where the community becomes the classroom, and service becomes the skillset.

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, New Mount Rose has been on the frontlines of hope. Through its Emergency Response Ministry, the church has distributed over $25 million worth of PPE, food, clothing, and medical equipment to those in need.

“We’ve been filling bowls and blessing souls,” said Pastor Tatum. “Now it’s time to build a workforce that reflects the same spirit of compassion, community, and commitment.”

From the Hardest Hit to the Highest Hope

The 76104 zip code was once marked by headlines declaring it the lowest life expectancy in Texas—just 67 years. But New Mount Rose didn’t back down. They rose up.

Since then, through persistent ministry, public engagement, and unwavering faith, this congregation has helped shift the trajectory of health and hope in the region. And now, with Skills City, USA, the focus turns to economic life support—restoring dignity, industry, and destiny in the lives of its people.

“This is the end of the brain drain in Hillside of Morningside Estates,” declared Pastor Tatum.

“We are raising up a generation of young people who love where they live and are now equipped to lead where they live.”

Local Hands. Local Hearts. Local Healing.

What makes Skills City, USA different? It’s powered by the people it’s designed to serve. The students are not outsiders—they are sons and daughters of Morningside. They’ve walked these streets, attended these schools, and prayed in these pews. Now, they are stepping up to serve their neighbors while gaining skills that can transform their future.

In collaboration with the Ministers Justice Coalition of Texas, Midwest Food Bank, the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Labor Detail, and the resilient Morningside community, this initiative is on pace to become a national model for faith-led community restoration.
