Faith at the Plate With Cheesecake: Kinsler Ray Farmer Batted His Way into the Pitch Hit & Run Team Championship at Globe Life Field This Fall

What do baseball and cheesecake have in common?

The batter.

In this case, the batter is Kinsler Ray “Cheesecake” Farmer, the Crandall Middle School slugger who stole the show—and our hearts—at the Rube Foster Pitch Hit & Run Invitational, held Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Gateway Park in Fort Worth, Texas.

A Sweet Swing for the Future from the Rube Foster Pitch Hit & Run

By Pastor Kyev Tatum, The Coach and the Preacher.

There are stories that make us smile—

And then there are stories that make us believe again.

Kinsler Ray “Cheesecake” Farmer is both.

This gifted young athlete from Crandall, Texas, has earned a golden ticket to Globe Life Field, the home of the World Champion Texas Rangers, where he’ll compete in the MLB Pitch Hit & Run Team Championship this fall.

But Cheesecake isn’t just stepping up to the plate for himself.

He’s stepping up for kids across more than ten different cities, from Coppell to Crowley, Arlington to Rhome, Grand Prairie to Mansfield, and even communities across Oklahoma—a true regional ambassador of youth baseball excellence.

He’s not just batting for Crandall.

He’s batting for every kid with a dream.

At the 2025 Rube Foster Invitational, the field pulsed with passion, promise, and possibility. The air was electric—charged with faith, family, and fierce competition. And right in the middle of it all was Cheesecake—smooth, focused, joyful.

Organized under the powerful banner of Fun Over Guns, the event was more than a baseball competition. It was a movement—a safe space for kids to run, swing, laugh, and rise. It was a sanctuary on the diamond, where the crack of the bat overpowered the crackle of chaos. And in that moment, Cheesecake became the face of hope.

With a name that draws smiles and a swing that turns heads, Kinsler didn’t just play—he inspired.

It wasn’t just his performance that stood out. It was his presence. His humility. His quiet confidence. His joy.

He became a symbol—not just of what’s possible, but of what’s next.

Now, as he prepares to take the field at Globe Life Field before tens of thousands, we are inviting the community—and the country—to stand with him.

Imagine this:

A national platform built around a boy nicknamed Cheesecake.

A “Cheesecake MVP Award”, given annually to youth who show courage, character, and consistency.

A sponsorship from The Cheesecake Factory, turning a fun nickname into a full-circle moment where joy meets justice and dessert meets destiny.

Because this story isn’t just about one kid and one swing—it’s about changing the game for every dreamer who dares to pick up a bat.

The tournament’s namesake, Rube Foster, was more than a baseball legend. He was a visionary—a builder, a leader, and the son of an A.M.E. pastor. He gave Black athletes a league of their own before the world ever gave them a chance. His legacy was one of faith, resistance, and belief in the brilliance of our youth.

And on that powerful July Saturday in Fort Worth, that same legacy came alive again—when Cheesecake stepped to the plate and reminded us all:

Hope still swings.

This is our moment.

Not just to cheer.

But to invest.

In boys like Cheesecake.

In dreams like his.

In a future that starts with faith, mentorship, and community.

So as Kinsler Ray “Cheesecake” Farmer prepares to represent us all on one of the biggest youth baseball stages in America, let’s do more than watch. Let’s stand beside him.

Let’s build a world where kids from every zip code, every background, and every nickname get their shot at greatness.

Because every time a child steps up to the plate,

We get another chance to swing for something greater.
