GOD ANSWERS PRAYERS: Filling in the GAP at New Mount Rose. Ezekiel 22:23–31.
GOD ANSWERS PRAYERS: Filling in the GAP at New Mount Rose. Ezekiel 22:23–31.
Today was a truly historic and spirit-filled day at New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church. The North Texas Buffalo Soldiers have officially entrusted New Mount Rose to serve as the stewards of the Buffalo Soldiers Legacy in Texas.
For years, New Mount Rose has faithfully honored the legacy of these courageous soldiers — most notably through its involvement in the headstone replacement ceremony for the 24th Infantry at the historic Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
This new covenant partnership, which also links with the descendants of Buffalo Soldiers in Tyler, Texas, carries deep and personal meaning for Pastor Kyev Tatum, who serves as chaplain to the Buffalo Soldiers and has long championed their memory and mission.
As the proud home of the Little Miss Six Triple Eight youth ambassadors, New Mount Rose has become a powerful center for positive youth development — providing programs inspired by the perseverance, discipline, and honor of the Buffalo Soldiers to uplift children who struggle within traditional settings.
“This covenant agreement will make a meaningful difference in the lives of our children, our community, and our city,” says Pastor Tatum. “We need all hands on deck.”
Today’s message to the congregation posed a profound question: Are you the one who will stand in the gap for this generation — or will you be among those the Lord could not find? (v.30)
We believe with grateful hearts that today, the Lord answered our prayers. He has opened the door for us to protect, preserve, and promote the legacies of both the Buffalo Soldiers and the heroic women of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, right here at New Mount Rose.
Thank You, Lord, for the blessing of the Gap Ministry — where we humbly and boldly stand in the GAP for this generation.
