BAPTISMS NOT BURIALS: New Mount Rose MBC Boldly Takes a Stand Against Gun Violence and Suicide with the Power of Jesus Christ this Juneteenth.

FORT WORTH, TX — As bullets fly and headlines fill with tragedy, New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church is rising with holy boldness to declare that Jesus is still the answer—and the Church is not powerless. With unwavering conviction and a burning desire to see lives transformed, New Mount Rose is launching its “Baptisms Not Bullets” this Juneteenth, June 19, 2025, as part of its annual Vacation Bible School.

Under the passionate leadership of Pastor Kyev Tatum, this historic Southside church is stepping forward with confidence, compassion, and commitment to declare that gun violence and suicide will not win—not on our watch.

“We believe that God is the only one who can save us from this evil violence,” says Pastor Tatum.

“We are seeking the lost and the suffering—and we’re giving them Jesus!”

Instead of bowing to fear or burying more youth, New Mount Rose is baptizing them—burying sin and shame in the water and raising up new life in Christ. This is not just symbolic. It is strategic. It is spiritual warfare in action.

This message comes at a critical time. Father’s Day weekend in Fort Worth ended in heartbreak, as five people were shot and killed in separate incidents—each one a painful reminder of a city in crisis. Among the victims was 16-year-old Billy Gipson. Another teenager. Another statistic. Another soul gone too soon.

But New Mount Rose refuses to accept this as normal. The church is not retreating, not remaining silent, and certainly not hopeless. They are doing what the Church was born to do: standing in the gap, lifting up the name of Jesus, and rescuing this generation before it’s too late.

“We are losing too many young people, and the Church must step up and give them Jesus,” Pastor Tatum affirmed.

“I am committed to curbing gun violence with Christ.”

This is more than a moment. It’s a movement.

This is more than a baptism. It’s a battle cry.

This is not just about changing lives—it’s about saving them.

In a world handing out depression, despair, and destruction, the Church must be the place where hope is alive, and Jesus is Lord. While others argue over policies, New Mount Rose is proclaiming power. While others protest in the streets, this church is baptizing in the Spirit. While grief saturates the city, miracles are rising from the waters.

And that’s what sets this moment apart: faith in action.

From a Christian perspective, there is no greater responsibility than to shield the vulnerable and point them to the Savior. The Church has the answer, and His name is Jesus. He still saves. He still delivers. He still heals broken hearts, shattered communities, and confused young minds.

New Mount Rose is issuing a rally cry to every church, every believer, every parent, every pastor:

Stand up. Speak out. Be bold. Be present. Give them Jesus.

Because when baptisms replace bullets…

When living water flows where blood once spilled…

When the name of Jesus is lifted higher than fear, failure, or death—

That’s when the Church will know its mission matters.
