BIG NEWS, FORT WORTH!

HEART WORK PAYS OFF!

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16

We’ve got something powerful to celebrate!

“This is just the beginning of the Rise of the Hillside of Morningside.” — Pastor Kyev Tatum

FORT WORTH, TEXAS — May 13, 2025 — From the heart of the Southside, a powerful light is shining! For the fifth consecutive year, Pastor Kyev Tatum, servant-leader of New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church and President of the Ministers Justice Coalition of Texas, has been named one of Fort Worth Inc. Magazine’s 500 Most Influential People!

This annual list celebrates the changemakers shaping Fort Worth’s future — and out of hundreds recognized, only few are faith leaders. Among them, Pastor Tatum stands alone as one of the only African American clergy member selected this year. His inclusion isn’t just a personal honor — it’s a powerful statement about faith in action, and the growing impact of grassroots leadership rising from the Hillside of Morningside.

This moment is bigger than a magazine feature.

This is a victory for our people, our church, and our community.

In the 76104 ZIP code — the community with the lowest life expectancy in Texas — Pastor Tatum is leading a transformational movement rooted in faith, justice, and healing. Since 2018, he has turned New Mount Rose into a hub of hope, distributing over $25 million in food, health resources, and emergency aid to families in crisis.

But he’s not stopping there. Pastor Tatum continues to build a better future through visionary, hands-on projects like:

• Farm Fort Worth – growing fresh food and green jobs right in the city

• The Inner City Coffee Exchange – creating new pathways through coffee and commerce

• The Texas 6888th Project – preserving the powerful legacy of WWII’s Black women heroes

• Little Miss 6888th Ambassadors – empowering youth to carry that legacy into the future.

Just this spring, Pastor Tatum led a historic delegation to Washington, D.C., helping honor the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion — the only all-Black, all-woman unit to serve overseas in World War II — at their long-awaited Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony. Because of his efforts, their courage now lives in the nation’s memory.

This recognition belongs to all of us.

It’s living proof of what happens when we combine purpose, persistence, and prayer.

When we lead with love.

When we do HEART WORK.

So let’s say it loud and clear:

The Hillside of Morningside is rising.

The Southside is shining.

And yes — HEART WORK PAYS OFF.

As Pastor Tatum always reminds us:

“This isn’t hard work — this is HEART WORK. And it pays off!”
