This summer, churches, caregivers, and community leaders across the country unite under one urgent mission:

Protect Our Children — By Any Means Necessary.




The Ministers Justice Coalition of Texas proudly announces Orange Summer 2025 — a bold, faith-driven campaign confronting homicide and suicide gun violence, reclaiming summer as a season of healing, hope, and healthy fun for our children and families.

At the heart of this movement is Orange Sunday, June 8, 2025 —
a national day of remembrance, resolve, and radical love.

We wear orange in honor of Hadiya Pendleton, the 15-year-old honor student tragically shot just days after performing at President Obama’s second inaugural parade. Her friends chose orange — the color hunters wear to protect themselves — as a symbol of peace and prevention.





In 2025, the message is louder and more urgent than ever:
We wear orange for our children.

“More lives are lost to suicide by gun than homicide in our communities — including among our youth,” says Pastor Kyev Tatum, President of the Ministers Justice Coalition of Texas.
“Orange Summer is about giving our kids something worth living for — a reason to hope, a reason to believe that summer can be safe, fun, and full of purpose.”

Kick off Orange Summer 2025 with a free day of baseball, joy, and community celebration, hosted with Fort Worth Parks & Recreation and supported by champions like the Texas Rangers.
We choose play over pain and community over chaos!

Guns to Gardens: Turning Tools of Harm into Tools of Hope
Come witness how surrendered guns are transformed by blacksmiths into garden tools and art. Led by Rev. Jan Orr-Harter and Pastor Kyev Tatum, this is a powerful experience of healing and hope for the community.

In partnership with Midwest Food Bank, Secured Moving Company, and the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Labor Detail, we’ll distribute thousands of pounds of free food along with resources for youth enrichment and family support.
