Fort Worth, Texas — Fresh off an inspiring journey to our nation’s capital for the Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony honoring the legendary 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, Pastor and Sister Tatum are honored to announce the launch of “Hope in an Envelope”—the Little Miss 6888th Ambassadors Program. This transformative, faith-based leadership and legacy initiative celebrates the bold spirit of the only all-Black and Latina, all-female battalion to serve overseas during World War II.
Weekly sessions begin Wednesdays at 4:30 PM
Location: New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church
2864 Mississippi Avenue, Fort Worth, TX 76104
This first-of-its-kind national program is now enrolling young ladies ages 8 to 18 who are ready to learn, lead, and live with the spirit of excellence exemplified by Lieutenant Colonel Charity Edna Adams Earley and the trailblazing women of the 6888th. As one member put it, “They bore the burden of having to be better.”
To become a Little Miss 6888th Ambassador, each participant must commit to upholding the Spirit of Excellence of the 6888th, rooted in six timeless values that transcend race, class, and culture:
The Spirit of Excellence of the 6888th
TRUSTWORTHINESS
• Be honest and reliable
• Keep your word
• Stand by your values
RESPECT
• Treat others with dignity
• Embrace differences
• Handle conflict peacefully
RESPONSIBILITY
• Do your duty and give your best
• Think before acting
• Be accountable
FAIRNESS
• Play by the rules
• Share and listen
• Stay open-minded
CARING
• Show kindness and compassion
• Express gratitude and forgiveness
CITIZENSHIP
• Be a positive force in your school and community
• Cooperate and stay informed
• Protect the rights of others and the environment
Through the 6888th University of Travel, public speaking, historical education, mentorship, cultural enrichment, and community service, this dynamic program equips young ladies to carry the legacy of the 6888th into the future—with pride, purpose, and poise.
Participants will have opportunities to travel from Fort Worth to Kansas, Virginia, Austin, San Antonio, and even France, spreading the story and spirit of the 6888th and inspiring others through their leadership and grace.
Enrollment is now open—and space is limited! A small enrollment fee and a heartfelt commitment to excellence are required.
