FORT WORTH—LET’S SWING FOR SOMETHING SPECIAL.

The Fun Over Guns Rube Foster Pitch, Hit & Run Competition returns for its third championship season—and this year, we’re swinging for more than fences. We’re swinging for futures.

Presented by New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church, in strong partnership with the City of Fort Worth Parks and Recreation, Major League Baseball, Project the Positivity, and a coalition of community champions, this event is more than a game—it’s a movement for healing, hope, and hometown pride.

We honor the legacy of Rube Foster, the Father of Black Baseball—who once played right here in Fort Worth with the Fort Worth Colts (1901–1902)—by transforming his trailblazing spirit into a platform where young leaders rise, swing big, and shine bright.

OUR MVP PARTNERS INCLUDE:
City of Fort Worth Parks and Recreation
Major League Baseball
New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church
Ministers Justice Coalition of Texas
Texas Rangers Baseball Club
The Players Alliance
Tickets for Kids Charities
Fort Worth Youth Outreach

Together, we’ve impacted 1,000+ kids—and counting. From diamonds to dreams, this grassroots effort is turning potential into purpose, and passion into progress.

THIS YEAR: ALL EYES ARE ON THE FIELD.

COACHES. ARE. WATCHING.

Powered by MLB’s official Pitch, Hit & Run program, scouts will be looking for the next big stars—boys and girls ages 7–14—with a chance to compete on the national stage, and maybe even make it to the 2025 MLB World Series.

“This is more than baseball,” says Pastor Kyev Tatum, event founder and former Fort Worth Parks & Rec Advisory Board member.
“This is purpose in motion—and pride on display.”

From Como to Morningside, Diamond Hill to Meadowbrook, we’re proving that when you give kids a bat and a belief—they knock it out of the park.

WHY IT MATTERS:

Aaliyah Collins, Fort Worth Youth Outreach:
“It gives them something positive to do—and a safe space to just be kids again.”

Coach Gregory Fry, community mentor:
“Baseball taught me discipline and accountability. That’s what these kids need—and that’s what this gives.”

WHAT TO EXPECT:

FOOD. FUN. FELLOWSHIP.
BASEBALL. BEATS. BIG DREAMS.

A day full of energy, music, and community—where every pitch carries purpose, and every swing speaks hope.
