Fort Worth Ministers March Down Mississippi to Turn Guns Into Gardens
Fort Worth, TX – On Friday, April 11, 2025, clergy and community leaders from across Fort Worth and beyond will unite for the “Bury Your Bullets, Not Our Babies” March and Guns to Gardens Initiative—a prophetic act of faith, healing, and hope in solemn remembrance of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Organized by the Ministers Justice Coalition of Texas, the peaceful procession will travel down Mississippi Avenue to New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church at 2864 Mississippi Avenue. There, participants will take part in two powerful and symbolic ceremonies: a Blessing of the Saw and a Dove Release for Peace.
This initiative is part of a growing national movement aimed at reducing gun violence and addressing the deep emotional and spiritual wounds inflicted on communities by senseless violence. In a striking gesture of transformation, unwanted firearms will be dismantled and repurposed into garden tools—literally forging life from death and hope from harm.
“This march is more than a memorial—it’s a ministry of transformation,” said Pastor Kyev Tatum, President of the Ministers Justice Coalition of Texas. “We’re turning instruments of destruction into tools of creation. We march to heal the hurt, honor the fallen, and plant the seeds of a better tomorrow.”
The coalition extends a heartfelt invitation to RAWtools, Presbyterian Peace Fellowship, local congregations, youth organizations, peacebuilders, and all concerned citizens to join this sacred day of reflection, resistance, and restoration.
Together, we march not just in memory—but with a mission.
