Filling Bowls, Blessing Souls: Pastor Kyev Tatum and New Mount Rose Recognized as One of Fort Worth’s Most Influential in 2025.

Fort Worth, Texas – For the fifth consecutive year, Fort Worth, Inc. Magazine has named New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church and Pastor Kyev Tatum among the most influential forces in Fort Worth. This recognition highlights their unwavering commitment to social justice, economic empowerment, and faith-driven service, transforming lives across the city.

A Legacy of Service and Leadership

Since 2018, New Mount Rose has been a leader in addressing Fort Worth’s most pressing challenges. Under Pastor Tatum’s leadership, the church has launched transformative initiatives that tackle economic disparities, food insecurity, and historical preservation. Notable programs include:

✔ Community Peacemakers – A pioneering community-police mediation training program fostering understanding and accountability.

✔ Your Pathway to Health Partnership – Providing free medical services to underserved residents.

✔ COVID-19 Relief Efforts – Organizing food distributions, health outreach, and financial aid for struggling families.

✔ Inner City Coffee Exchange – A specialty coffee initiative creating economic opportunities in historically marginalized communities.

✔ Farm Fort Worth – Addressing food deserts by bringing fresh produce and urban farming jobs to the 76104 ZIP code, which has the lowest life expectancy in Texas.

Honoring the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion

In March 2024, Pastor Tatum traveled to Washington, D.C., to witness the historic Congressional Gold Medal ceremony honoring the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion (Six Triple Eight). This all-Black women’s military unit played a crucial role in World War II, ensuring U.S. troops received long-overdue mail in Europe.

Through The Texas 6888th Project, Pastor Tatum has led efforts to commemorate, educate, and honor these trailblazing women. Key initiatives include:

✅ A resolution and documentary screening at the Texas Capitol.

✅ A commemorative plaque on the local and state levels.

✅ Traveling exhibits for schools, libraries, and churches.

✅ Statewide documentary screenings with panel discussions on the role of women in the military.

Trilogy of Her Story: Black Women Trailblazers of Fort Worth

New Mount Rose is also a proud sponsor of the Trilogy of Her Story: Black Women Trailblazers of Fort Worth, an exhibition at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History from March to June 2025. This landmark initiative will highlight:

✔ Gladys Lee – The first Black female LPGA golfer from Fort Worth.

✔ Mary Francine Reese Morrison – “The Songbird of the South,” a legendary gospel singer and minister.

✔ Beatrice Elizabeth Pringle – The first Black female publisher of a major national magazine, leading Sepia Publishing Company.

By preserving and sharing the stories of Black women trailblazers, Pastor Tatum and New Mount Rose ensure that their resilience, leadership, and achievements are celebrated for generations.

Faith in Action

Pastor Tatum believes in “Faith without works is dead,” ensuring that New Mount Rose is not just a place of worship, but a force for real change. Through grassroots organizing, youth development programs, and economic empowerment initiatives, Pastor Tatum and his congregation continue to embody a mission of service, justice, and transformation.

“This recognition is not just about our church—it’s about the people we serve,” said Pastor Kyev Tatum. “We are called to stand in the gap, uplift, empower, and heal. Our commitment is to be a living example of God’s love in action.”

Looking Forward

As New Mount Rose and Pastor Tatum continue their work in 2025 and beyond, their vision remains clear:

✅ Expanding community-driven solutions to combat poverty, food insecurity, and economic inequality.
