“Bury Your Bullets, Not Our Babies” — A Sacred March Down Mississippi Avenue.

“Bury Your Bullets, Not Our Babies” — A Sacred March Down Mississippi Avenue.

On Friday, April 11, 2025, our 76104 community came together in a powerful display of faith, grief, and healing. We marched from Allen Street—now the Atatiana Jefferson Memorial Parkway—to New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church, with hearts heavy from loss and hope shining through every step. This wasn’t just a walk—it was a witness. A spiritual cry for Treatment for the Trauma caused by the gun violence, homicides, suicides, and domestic violence that have haunted our homes and hearts.

We gathered to say enough is enough. To declare that we will not remain silent. That we will bury bullets, not our babies. That we will stand in love, in faith, and in action.

This healing ministry mission is not ours alone. It is being built hand-in-hand with our partners and peacemakers:

  • The Ministers Justice Coalition of Texas, who stand for justice rooted in righteousness and redemption.
  • Presbyterian Peace Fellowship’s Guns to Gardens Initiative, turning weapons of violence into tools of life by transforming surrendered guns into garden tools—symbols of rebirth, peace, and possibility.
  • Farm Fort Worth, our urban farming ministry on sacred church land, cultivating fresh food, economic opportunity, and a new future for our youth in the heart of the 76104 food desert.

Together, we are sowing seeds of healing—spiritually, socially, and economically. From the street to the soil, from trauma to treatment, we are nurturing a healthier, more hopeful Morningside.

Our march was filled with soul-stirring prayers, testimonies of tragedy and triumph, and a community committed to change. Elder Madison Hogan graciously captured these sacred moments, preserving the spirit and strength of a night we will never forget.

“We have been traumatized in 76104, and no one seems to care,” said Pastor Kyev Tatum. But on this night, care was made visible. Healing was made possible. Love was made public.

Healing Scripture:

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3

This is only the beginning. Come walk with us. Pray with us. Build with us—for healing, for justice, and for the full restoration of 76104.

Special Thanks to Golden Gate Funeral Home of Fort Worth. We extend our deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to Golden Gate Funeral Home of Fort Worth and its visionary CEO, Mr. John E. Beckwith, Jr., CFSP, for graciously providing the hearse and casket services that made our sacred march possible.

Your compassion and commitment to community healing turned pain into purpose and helped us symbolically carry the burden of our collective grief through the streets of 76104. Your ministry of presence reminded us that dignity, even in mourning, can be a form of resistance and reverence.
