God’s Hubs: Renew Minds. Restore Souls. Redeem Lives. A Romans 12 Approach to Healing Inner-City Communities. Pastor Kyev Tatum
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
—Romans 12:2
In a world where trauma, poverty, and violence shape the daily reality of inner-city youth, the Church is called to be more than a place of worship—it must be a sanctuary of transformation. Too many of our young people are being conformed to a system that leads them from their homes to underfunded schools, then to the courthouse, and ultimately to the jailhouse. But God has called us to something greater: renewal, restoration, and redemption.
New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church and the Ministers Justice Coalition of Texas are answering this call through God’s Hubs, a faith-driven initiative rooted in the principles of Romans 12. By renewing minds, restoring souls, and redeeming lives, we are breaking generational cycles of suffering and replacing them with hope, healing, and purpose.
Renew Minds: The Transformation of Thought
“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
—Romans 12:2
The battle begins in the mind. Many of our children grow up in environments that condition them to believe struggle is their destiny. The world tells them they are not worthy, that their pain is normal, and that their potential is limited. But God’s Word tells a different story.
Through God’s Hubs, we challenge these destructive narratives by equipping young minds with truth, resilience, and the tools for success. We provide:
✔️ Biblical Counseling & Mentorship – Teaching young people they are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14) and that their past does not define their future.
✔️ Trauma-Informed Education – Helping children understand their emotions and develop healthy ways to cope with stress.
✔️ Academic Support & Leadership Development – Encouraging excellence in education, so they can break the cycle of generational poverty.
When the mind is renewed, vision is restored. When vision is restored, transformation begins.
Restore Souls: Healing Through the Body of Christ
“Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another.”
—Romans 12:10
Many of our children carry wounds too deep for words—loss, abandonment, fear, and rejection. These burdens weigh heavy on their souls, leading to anger, despair, and broken relationships. Without healing, the pain continues to manifest in their schools, homes, and communities.
God’s Hubs create safe spaces where children and families can heal through:
✔️ Art Therapy & Storytelling – Allowing children to express their emotions in creative, restorative ways.
✔️ Community Fellowship & Worship – Providing a spiritual family that nurtures, uplifts, and walks alongside them.
✔️ Mindfulness & Prayer – Teaching that “God is near to the brokenhearted” (Psalm 34:18) and that peace comes through faith in Him.
By restoring souls through love, compassion, and biblical teaching, we help young people reclaim their God-given identity.
Redeem Lives: Breaking Chains, Building Futures
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
—Romans 12:21
The enemy seeks to trap our children in a cycle of hopelessness. From failing schools to mass incarceration, systemic barriers continue to push them toward a future that is not of God. But through Christ, redemption is possible.
God’s Hubs stand in the gap by providing:
✔️ Economic Empowerment & Job Training – Equipping young people with the skills to build a future outside of crime and poverty.
✔️ Farm Fort Worth: Urban Agriculture & Sustainability – Teaching self-sufficiency through farming, entrepreneurship, and healthy living.
✔️ Family Strengthening Programs – Supporting parents in financial literacy, relationship building, and creating stable home environments.
God is in the business of redemption. He takes what is broken and makes it whole. Through God’s Hubs, we are not just rescuing individuals—we are reclaiming families, neighborhoods, and communities for the Kingdom of God.
A Call to Action: Be the Hands and Feet of Christ
“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”
—Romans 12:12
The crisis in our inner-city communities is not just a social issue—it is a spiritual battle. And the Church cannot remain silent. Now is the time for action.
We are calling on churches, educators, business leaders, and policymakers to:
✔️ Support trauma-informed education in every school.
✔️ Invest in mental health resources for underserved communities.
✔️ Advocate for restorative justice over punitive discipline.
✔️ Expand faith-based initiatives like God’s Hubs to provide direct support.
This is more than a program—it is a movement of God.
Join the Movement. Change the Narrative.
The jungle our children are navigating is not of their own making. But through faith, community, and the power of God’s Word, we can lead them to a future of hope.
It’s like a jungle sometimes, but it doesn’t have to be.
