Biography of Rev. Kyev Tatum
Rev. Kyev Tatum (‘91) is a leader shaped by faith, experience, and service. From being a teen father navigating poverty to becoming a respected business strategist, minister, and community advocate, his journey exemplifies resilience and transformation.
A former student-athlete at Tarleton State University (1984–1986) and the University of North Texas (1986–1990), Tatum honed his leadership skills on the gridiron before transitioning into civic and business leadership. His ability to unite people across sectors—government, business, faith, and education—has led to transformative initiatives in economic development, racial justice, and social entrepreneurship.
In 2014, he was called upon to serve as a White House ally for President Barack Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper initiative, advancing opportunities for boys and young men of color. His work has since expanded into strategic leadership consulting, urban economic revitalization, and the development of social enterprises like Coffeeaires and The Inner City Coffee Exchange, connecting local entrepreneurs to global opportunities.
