A Texas-Sized Celebration of a Hometown Star’s Legacy in Film, Television, and Beyond.
Fort Worth, Texas, is rolling out the red carpet once again for one of its own! June 20, 2025, marks Candy Clark Day, a grand tribute to the Academy Award-nominated actress whose career has spanned more than six decades in Hollywood (https://www.tvguide.com/celebrities/candy-clark/credits/3030021180/).
Born and raised in Fort Worth, Candy Clark graduated from Green B. Trimble Technical High School in 1965, never imagining that she would one day become a Hollywood icon. But fate had other plans. Her breakthrough role as Debbie Dunham in American Graffiti (1973) not only won audiences over but also earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. That success launched a prolific career, filled with memorable performances in both film and television.
From starring alongside David Bowie in The Man Who Fell to Earth to facing off against terrifying foes in The Blob and Stephen King’s Cat’s Eye, Candy has taken on a wide range of roles with fearless versatility. She has thrilled audiences in action-packed films like Blue Thunder and Amityville 3D, brought humor to cult classics like National Lampoon Goes to the Movies, and even left her mark on the sci-fi world in Starcrash.
Beyond the silver screen, Candy has been a fixture on television, appearing in beloved shows such as Matlock, St. Elsewhere, Magnum, P.I., The Hitchhiker, The New Perry Mason, and The New Dick Van Dyke Show. More recently, she has graced modern hits, making guest appearances in Criminal Minds, Twin Peaks: The Return, and even lending her voice to Aaahh!!! Real Monsters.
Now, Candy is stepping into a new creative venture—as an author. Her latest literary work, Tight Heads, marks an exciting new chapter in her storytelling journey.
