A Homecoming Celebration for Fort Worth’s Hollywood Star!
FORT WORTH, TEXAS - Fort Worth, get ready to roll out the red carpet! Sixty years ago, Candy Clark walked the halls of Green B. Trimble Tech High School, dreaming big. She took those dreams all the way to Hollywood, where she became an Academy Award-nominated actress and a beloved star of American Graffiti. Now, she’s adding another milestone to her extraordinary journey—her first published book, Tight Heads.

A Celebration Worthy of a Star!
More than a decade ago, Rev. Kyev Tatum, a fellow Trimble Tech alum, took it upon himself to ensure that Candy Clark received the recognition she deserves. Thanks to his efforts, Fort Worth officially declared October 26, 2013, as Candy Clark Day. Now, we’re keeping the celebration alive with a second official event—bigger, bolder, and filled with love for our hometown icon!

Candy Clark’s Tight Heads – A Window into 1970s Hollywood
In 2022, writer Sam Sweet asked Candy Clark for a Los Angeles memento—something personal that captured her early days in Hollywood. She casually mentioned some Polaroids she had taken, unaware of their historical significance.
What she revealed was a treasure trove of 18 stunning Polaroid SX-70 photographs—intimate close-ups of the greatest directors, actors, writers, and producers of 1970s American cinema. These weren’t just snapshots; they were raw, personal glimpses into a golden era of Hollywood, filled with authenticity, friendship, and artistic expression.
This unexpected discovery led to Tight Heads, a beautifully curated hardcover book featuring 78 images from her personal archives—hidden gems untouched for 50 years. Alongside the photographs, Candy shares her memories, offering readers a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the faces, places, and stories that shaped a cinematic revolution.
Clark’s inspiration for photography came from her modeling days, where she first heard the term tight heads—a phrase used for close-up shots. But to her, the words held deeper meaning. They symbolized friendships, egos, secrets, and a lifetime of memories, layered beneath a casual surface.
When asked why she started taking photos, she simply said,
“If Warhol could do it, why couldn’t I?”
But while Warhol’s Polaroids were high-flash, high-fashion portraits, Candy’s photos tell a different story—one of car rides, living rooms, and backyards, where famous faces become softer, more human, more real.
