BROTHERS IN BATTLE: Lee Saldivar & Kyev Tatum – A Bond Forged in the Fight for Fairness and Freedom.

FORT WORTH, TEXAS – For decades, Lee Saldivar and Rev. Kyev Tatum have stood shoulder to shoulder on the frontlines of the fight for civil rights, battling for equality and opportunity for Black and Chicano communities. Bound not by blood, but by an unshakable commitment to justice, they have worked tirelessly to ensure that the voices of historically marginalized communities are heard, respected, and empowered.

The Black, Brown & Tan Caucus: A Movement for the People

Central to their mission is the Black, Brown & Tan Caucus, a grassroots coalition dedicated to uniting Black, Chicano, and Indigenous communities in the struggle for justice and equity. More than just an organization, the Black, Brown & Tan Caucus is a movement—a collective force demanding representation, fairness, and systemic change.

Education Equity: Advocating for leadership in schools that reflects and uplifts all communities.

Economic Justice: Fighting for fair wages, equal business opportunities, and community-driven economic development.

Immigrant Rights: Ensuring dignity, protection, and pathways to success for immigrant families.

Community Empowerment: Mobilizing people through activism, civic engagement, and policy reform.

Lee Saldivar: A Lifetime of Advocacy

A lifelong activist and champion for the Chicano community, Lee Saldivar has dedicated his life to fighting against racial and economic injustices. His work with LULAC #4743, the United Farm Workers Movement, and local labor organizations has helped secure fair treatment for workers, students, and families across Texas. Saldivar has been a relentless force in voting rights advocacy, police accountability efforts, and immigrant protections, ensuring that marginalized voices are not silenced.

During the pandemic, he was instrumental in organizing relief efforts, delivering food and essential supplies to families in need, and working with faith leaders like Rev. Kyev Tatum to provide direct assistance to the most vulnerable communities.

A Brotherhood Forged in the Struggle

More than allies, Lee and Kyev are brothers in battle—forged in struggle, fueled by purpose, and driven by a shared vision of a stronger, more just Fort Worth. Their partnership stands as a testament to the power of unity between Black and Chicano communities, proving that when we fight together, we win together.

The Black, Brown & Tan Caucus is a call to action for all who believe in justice. Whether through community organizing, policy advocacy, or direct action, everyone has a role to play in shaping the future.

One fight. One vision. One people.
