FORT WORTH, TEXAS - For the fifth consecutive year, Pastor Kyev Tatum of New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church and the Ministers Justice Coalition of Texas has been recognized as one of the most influential people in Fort Worth, Texas, for 2025.
Selected for The 500: Fort Worth’s Most Influential People, Pastor Tatum continues to shape the city through his unwavering commitment to social justice, economic empowerment, and community revitalization. His leadership extends across multiple fields, including civil rights, policy development, urban farming, youth empowerment, and historical preservation.
Honorees of The 500 are chosen for their significant influence within their respective industries and contributions to the Greater Fort Worth community. Winners will be featured in the Summer issue of Fort Worth Inc. and celebrated at a cocktail reception.

About Pastor Kyev Tatum
A native of Fort Worth, Pastor Kyev P. Tatum Sr. is a civil rights leader, historian, and community advocate with over four decades of dedicated service to social justice. As the President of the Ministers Justice Coalition of Texas and Pastor of New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church, he has led numerous initiatives addressing racial inequality, food insecurity, and economic development in underserved communities.
Pastor Tatum’s advocacy spans multiple disciplines, from grassroots activism to policy reform. His leadership in efforts such as the Farm Fort Worth urban agriculture project, the Inner City Coffee Exchange, and the Texas 6888th Project reflects his dedication to economic empowerment and historical preservation. He is also the driving force behind community events like the MLK Hunger Bowl, the Youth Coffee Expo, and the Fun Over Guns initiative, which promote youth engagement, public safety, and economic opportunity.
A former student assistant to Tarleton State University President Dr. Barry B. Thompson, Pastor Tatum has long championed educational access and mentorship. His work has earned national recognition, including a nomination as a Bloomberg New Economy Catalyst.
As a curator of under-heard Black history stories, Pastor Tatum is the author of Fighting Black in Texas: An Anthology of Black Texans Who Resisted Racial Injustice from 1868 to Present, and he continues to document the legacies of Black pioneers in Texas through books, exhibitions, and public programs.
Pastor Tatum’s impact on Fort Worth and beyond is a testament to his lifelong mission: to uplift, empower, and preserve the history and future of marginalized communities.
