Fort Worth, Texas – January 10, 2025Marsha Moberley, a distinguished leader in the Texas criminal justice system and Chair of the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles, will be the featured speaker at the inaugural MLK Justice Brunch on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas. This important event, set to begin at 11:30 AM, will bring together community leaders, activists, and residents to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and discuss the ongoing fight for racial justice and equality.




The MLK Justice Brunch, hosted by the Ministers Justice Coalition of Texas, will provide a space for reflection and action on the issues of justice that Dr. King fought for throughout his life. With Ms. Moberley at the helm of the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles, this year’s brunch is expected to highlight critical conversations around criminal justice reform, rehabilitation, and fairness.





Marsha Moberley, who hails from Iowa Colony, brings more than 25 years of expertise in the criminal justice field, including her tenure as a former commissioner and board member of the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. In her current role as chair, she oversees key decisions regarding parole and clemency, influencing the lives of thousands of individuals within the Texas prison system. Moberley has dedicated her career to ensuring that Texas’ justice system promotes fairness and the rehabilitation of those seeking parole.




The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles has maintained a great relationship with the Ministers Justice Coalition for many years,” said Commissioner James Paul Kiel, Parole Commissioner for the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. “They have attended several Board meetings in the past. Reverend Tatum has taken leadership of this group since Reverend Rogers passed away. The Ministers Justice Coalition of Texas is a devoted group of pastors seeking to lead and serve their congregations in the Fort Worth area and beyond.





Before her appointment as chair, Moberley had a distinguished career in various roles, including Chief Juvenile Officer for Deaf Smith and Oldham counties and Probation Officer for both Young and Stephens counties. She is also a member of several professional organizations, including the Association of Paroling Authorities International and the Juvenile Justice Association of Texas. Moberley’s career trajectory reflects her deep commitment to improving the criminal justice system, advocating for those who need support in reintegrating into society.


At the MLK Justice Brunch, Ms. Moberley will share insights into her work and discuss the critical importance of justice reform. Her address will address ongoing challenges in the criminal justice system, providing a platform for further discussion on how to create a more equitable society.


Additionally, three distinguished pastors will be honored at the event for their unwavering commitment to reentry programs and for supporting the families of individuals who have loved ones incarcerated. The honorees are:

These leaders have made significant contributions to supporting those navigating the challenges of reentry and have worked tirelessly to assist families affected by incarceration. Their dedication to providing resources, counseling, and support to individuals in the reentry process is an integral part of the ongoing work to build a fairer and more just system.
