Proposal for Support: The Seasoned Saints Summit
Sponsored by the Ministers Justice Coalition of Texas & New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church
Fort Worth, Texas
Introduction
The Seasoned Saints Summit is a transformative, one-day gathering designed to provide essential resources, knowledge, and support to senior citizens and the faith leaders who serve them. Sponsored by the Ministers Justice Coalition of Texas and New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church, this summit will bring together churches, community organizations, healthcare providers, and policymakers to ensure that our elders—our Seasoned Saints—receive the care, dignity, and respect they deserve.
For many African American seniors, the church is not only a place of worship but also their primary support system and trusted source of information. By equipping faith leaders and caregivers with comprehensive tools, services, and networks, we aim to extend that support beyond Sunday services, ensuring that seniors have access to vital healthcare, financial resources, social services, and spiritual enrichment throughout their later years.
The Seasoned Saints Summit will provide a unique space for education, advocacy, and celebration, offering seniors an opportunity to connect with critical services, while faith leaders learn best practices to support their aging congregants.
Objectives of the Seasoned Saints Summit
1. Connect seniors with local services, including healthcare, housing, legal aid, financial assistance, and wellness programs.
2. Educate pastors, church leaders, and caregivers on best practices for senior care within faith communities.
3. Empower churches to serve as community hubs for aging members, offering continuous guidance and support.
4. Honor and celebrate the legacy of our elders while addressing their evolving needs with dignity and compassion.
