New Mount Rose is the Holy House of Hospitality. 1 Peter 4:9

FORT WORTH, TEXAS Since 1964, the New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church has served as a beacon of hope and hospitality in the City of Fort Worth, particularly within the Morningside community. Often referred to as the “Holy House of Hospitality,” the church has cultivated a legacy of unwavering service, compassion, and inclusivity. For over half a century, it has opened its doors to all—offering not only spiritual guidance but also practical assistance to those in need.

The church’s commitment to hospitality is deep-rooted, guided by the words of 1 Peter 4:9: “Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.” This scripture serves as the driving spiritual guide for New Mount Rose, motivating its members and leaders to extend kindness and love to all who enter their doors. The church creates a space where all are welcomed, regardless of their background, struggles, or circumstances. From its earliest days, the leadership has been dedicated to fostering an environment where individuals, families, and neighbors feel accepted, embraced, and part of a larger, loving family. Whether it’s providing a warm meal, a listening ear, or a hand up during tough times, New Mount Rose has become a beacon of hope and inclusion in the community.

Together with its members, community leaders, and local organizations, New Mount Rose has become a sanctuary where people find not only a place of worship but also a sense of belonging. The church’s hospitality extends beyond its walls, reaching out to the broader community through initiatives like the MLK Hunger Bowl, which addresses hunger and food insecurity, and other outreach programs focused on empowerment and upliftment. It’s through initiatives like these, alongside ongoing collaborations, that New Mount Rose exemplifies a spirit of unity and service.

Under the leadership of Pastor Kyev Tatum, the church’s outreach efforts have expanded significantly. Pastor Tatum’s vision of “Rear Our Own to Succeed While Raising Our Own to Serve” has shaped the church’s approach to service and engagement, making it a true “Holy House of Hospitality” that nurtures both the spirit and the community. The church has worked hand in hand with local government, businesses, and community leaders to address critical issues such as economic inequality, food deserts, and social justice. New Mount Rose serves as a hub for civic engagement, where people come together to discuss, act, and make positive change, showing that God and government can work together for the common good.

The impact of New Mount Rose on the Morningside community cannot be overstated. Over the years, the church has addressed the challenges faced by this area—high unemployment, food deserts, and systemic inequality—by offering programs that provide resources, education, and support. In doing so, the church has fostered a sense of hope and possibility, demonstrating that with God’s guidance, transformation is possible.

New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church is not just a house of faith—it is a place where people come together to heal, support one another, and work toward shared goals. In this “Holy House,” hospitality is not simply about offering comfort—it is about offering hope, opportunity, and a sense of belonging to everyone who walks through its doors. Every person is met with open arms, a listening ear, and a heart of service. The church continues to embody the spirit of hospitality and community development, offering a sanctuary of faith, justice, and collective healing. New Mount Rose is, indeed, a place where God’s love is made tangible through action, where every individual, regardless of their walk in life, finds a home.
