Black Texans, Inc. is a multimedia platform designed to highlight the rich history, culture, and contributions of Black Texans, while fostering meaningful conversations about their role in shaping Texas. The initiative seeks to inspire a deeper understanding of Texas’ Black heritage, promote justice, and advocate for equity by connecting past struggles to present challenges.


A Platform Rooted in History and Advocacy


Texas, home to the largest Black population in the United States, carries a unique narrative that intertwines triumphs, tragedies, and resilience. From the legacies of emancipation and Reconstruction to the modern-day fight for land justice, Black Texans have significantly shaped the state’s identity and progress. Yet, these stories are often marginalized or overlooked. Black Texans, Inc. was founded to reclaim these narratives, ensuring they are preserved, celebrated, and serve as a guide for future generations.


Our Vision


At its core, Black Texans, Inc. aims to make Texas history more inclusive, accurate, and accessible. By amplifying the voices of Black Texans and their contributions across various fields—politics, arts, agriculture, business, and civil rights—the platform seeks to foster a sense of pride, awareness, and action within and beyond the Black community.


Our Mission

1. Preservation: Document and archive the stories, images, and artifacts of Black Texans to ensure their history is not forgotten.

2. Education: Create accessible educational materials for schools, universities, and community groups to fill gaps in historical narratives.

3. Advocacy: Address systemic issues like land theft, economic inequity, and educational disparities while promoting solutions rooted in empowerment and justice.

4. Engagement: Build a community of learners, activists, and cultural enthusiasts who share a passion for honoring and advancing the legacy of Black Texans.

Advocacy and Justice


One of Black Texans, Inc.’s cornerstone efforts is the ongoing fight for land justice, encapsulated in initiatives like “Black Land in White Hands.” This campaign sheds light on the historical and present-day theft of Black-owned property in Texas, advocating for restitution and protections for affected families.
