THE COMMUNITY MOST VALUABLE PRAISERS: The MVP Ramos Family Served the Lord with Gladness at the New Mount Rose Warming Center. After every Super Bowl, the spotlight turns to the MVP. Cameras flash. Confetti falls. And when asked what comes next, the answer is almost automatic: “I’m going to Disneyland.” But in Morningside, at New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, we witnessed a different kind of MVP performance — no stadium lights, no endorsement deals, no trophies lifted high. Just service. Just sacrifice. Just Psalm 100:2 in motion: “Serve the Lord with gladness.” And the Most Valuable Praisers? David and Aracely Ramos — along with their incredible children. Beautiful. Faithful. Simply amazing people. ⸻ When the Call Came, They Said, “Let’s Do It.” When Pastor Kyev P. Tatum approached David about the bold idea of opening the church as a 24-hour warming center during the winter storm, the urgency was real. Unsheltered neighbors were freezing. Shelter spa...

At New Mount Rose, that provision showed up wrapped in an apron and answered to the name Chef Nekeisha Serviss. A professional chef. A gospel minister. A servant with fire in her hands and faith in her heart. Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, Chef Nekeisha is a graduate of Christ for the Nations Institute, where she was ordained into ministry. She later honed her culinary craft at the Culinary School of Fort Worth. God anointed her to preach — and trained her to plate. She loves people. She loves feeding people. She and her husband, Worrell Serviss, along with their beautiful daughters, Moriyah and Makariyah, call the Dallas–Fort Worth area home. And during this winter storm as...
